The race just needed some rain to liven things up. Iā€™m surprised there wasnā€™t any.

I feel bad for Alonso. He was doing pretty decent all weekend, then it went to shit. At least one Aston finished, even if it wasnā€™t in the points.

I do not want to be in the room at Mercedes after Russell binned it on the last lap. Threw away all those constructors points, and a podium. In order to score you have to finish son.

Just saw the replay where Russell clipped the wall with his right rear, before spearing into the barriers.

How are you guys saying this was a race? All I have heard is how sick everyone was of seeing Ver out 20+secs. For the majority of the race 1-5 was within 5secs of eachother. This was a very strategic race and it was played beautifully! This was a great GP and love seeing how tight the top 5 were.

Right. I felt George went from attacking Lando to defending Lewis starting at lap 60. And it was ultimately his worry of Lewis that forced the error.

The safety car is what brought all the cars back together at the front. Had that not happened the gaps for the first five positions would have been much larger. The Safety car basically stacked them all back up again.

At lap 20 before SC, top 5 were within 8secs, it was a very tight race w/o SC, but yes SC brought everyone tighter.

Sure it took a little while for everything to get going but I freaking loved the last part of this race.

Russell even hinted at it yesterday, saying the mercs were the only cars with an extra set of fresh mediums in hand. And thanks to the timing of that VSC, it VERY NEARLY worked for them. But George. George. Dude. Cmon man.

From the first angle I saw live, the way his floor was sparking as he went straight on, I was certain Hamilton had clipped his back tire and caused a puncture. But nope. Russell just did that all on his own.

Alonso and AM had a HORRIBLE weekend this weekend, jesus. And to hear Alonso call that car "undriveable" for, probably the first time ever........sheeesh.

And Lawson in the points!!!! This fuckin kid. If my last names were Tsunoda, Riiciardo, or Perez, I'd be very worried right now :ROFLMAO: Even his little "tussle" with Verstappen near the end there. Put up JUST enough of a fight so Max would have to work a little bit for it.

But Sainz. That was probably the race of his career. He had to WORK for that win. And the way he managed Norris and the Mercs behind him was a brilliance I've not seen in a long time. Backed up Norris just enough so he'd have to defend against the Mercs, but kept Norris JUST within DRS range so the Mercs wouldn't be able to blow past him and attack. That was so amazing to watch.

But my oh my, George.

This was a brilliant drive by Sainz no doubt and so calculated. Last race was a brilliant race to secure 3rd and now this win shows how technical of a driver he is. He has had a great car to drive as well.

Carlos was 100% helping Lando there. No doubt about it. A few times he drove out of the DRS for Lando when he was battling with the mercs and slowed down twice to bring him back into the drs again. I also believe Lando recognized that which is why you never saw him really dive bomb sainz or attack.

Did anyone catch Crofty saying this was Sainzā€™s first win in a Ferrari or Sainz on the radio saying this was his first ā€œsmooth operatorā€?? Are they saying this season?
Negative, I don't listen to the Sky feed, I go with the F1TV broadcasters, even though Alex Jacques is starting to get on my nerves. I think they should just make DC (David Coulthard) and Jolyon Palmer the de-facto anchors. DC has more than enough experience behind the wheel and the microphone. Jolyon's F1 career was short, and at least he's humble about it.

Japan practice in like an hour!!!!

gotta watch it tonight. There will be NO time at work tomorrow. It's annual inventory weekend so I will be busy all day tomorrow and probably part of saturday. But this year we're actually closing at noon tomorrow to get started, so MAYBE we won't have to be there until like 9 tomorrow night.

But I digress. F1 is here! Probably won't be able to get thru FP2 tonight tho.

FP1 watched!! God I love Suzuka. It amazes me, ,still, that 130R is basically NOT a corner anymore. It wasn't so long ago that 130R was THE corner that separated the boys from the men
