BUILD Hey Y'all! Update on my 16' M5

General Information

Its been about 9 months and 12,000 miles of ownership with my car and I'd like to make a post to share what I've done to the car so far. It has been a surreal experience and I can't believe its almost been a year already, wow time flies!

Preventative maintenance has been fully completed for where I am at in mileage for the car.
  • Replaced Spark plugs / Coil packs / Diff oil/ Oil changes every 3k miles + Blackstone's oil analysis/ Rear pads and rotors / Brake fluid flush / DCT Transmission Oil service / Brand new battery/ Cabin air filter / Engine air filter.

Modifications
  • Installed Velcoity Tuning's Downpipes (Decatted) (Thanks to @greasy for all the help and time on working on this with me)
  • Removed Charcoal air filter
  • Currently on a Velocity Tuning Custom Stage 2 Map
Headaches.... it has not been all rainbows and sunshine but I have learned a lot.
  • Two pre-purchase inspections missed a faulty differential that I had to replace not long after buying the car. Prior to the differential failing on me It always made a very low whine ( and I mean very low, you couldn't even have the air on low or you wouldn't hear it) whenever I let off the throttle. This whine was there from the first day I bought the car but It was so quiet that I just thought it was the two turbos so I didn't think much of it. One day to the next that whine turned into a whirring sound every single time I let off the throttle and it got loud enough to the point where I could hear it through the air being on. Only drove like that for half a day and then parked the car at my mechanic until I got a dreaded call. I was quite upset since I felt like I took every precaution possible.... I had used launch control less than 5 times up to that point and I never drifted the car either. I already had the knowledge to not launch the car much without first getting upgraded diff mounts. That was months ago and the new diff actually improved my handling quite a bit and tightened up the rear end significantly. If anyone is curious, I was completely stock at this point.
  • Another headache but a minor one is that my paint has a bunch of swirls on it. I'm not sure how I caused this since I got the car painted corrected + ceramic coating only 8 months ago. I use the two bucket method and never once have ever took it to an automatic car wash.

Pre-tune I was getting 12.5 mpg ( After the car is warmed up I drive it like how it should be driven ;) haha )
I just got the tune / dp's so not enough time for a good average but it seems to be even more efficient than stock while driving normally. Regardless, smiles per gallons is what matters to me!
