Check your knock sensors wires. Could be shorting out, had a similar problem like this before minus the smashed plug, but then again I've smashed a ton of those.

If the piece is still in there, hope it doesn't get stuck in a valve and break the head off. That can be a real mess.

Your best offer is going to be around 2k, trade in at a dealer will net you 1k tops. If your looking for close to 5k your going to be sitting on that car for a very long time.
