There was an update on 4/22. I don't know what entirely changed other than the backgrounds and maybe a few animations. I did notice they zapped the functionality on old iPads that allowed me to feed/pet/etc Pokemon without having to 'find' them. It sucks because I hate that process.

That's the thing, it could be 1 or 3 of the main components. Replacing all of the would barely be cheaper than a new equivalent. But if it was just one, it'd be worth it.
