I don't really know how to gauge the condition, but it's pretty dry and dusty. If I can just get the sides above the water line done before it goes into the water on May 3rd or so, I'd be fine with finishing the top sides from the dock.

Definitely planning to try it out cause I eventually want to do my own cars too. Mostly concerned about the time involved.

I'm looking for recommendations on a person / shop that will do bottom paint and a full boat buff / polish? Boat is 27' Cabin Cruiser. I have the marina it's stored at getting me a quote on bottom paint but I'm guessing there are mobile guys who might do it for less. Also any idea what I can...

I've done the Chicago River lock a couple times already and one of the smaller Calumet locks when I brought in for storage. Reasonably comfortable with the locks and idling while waiting too. I'll be doing fireworks on both the nights this year, but good idea to start with Wednesday first. I...

Ah, just looked up some regulations. Makes sense and that makes it easier for me. Thanks

I plan on doing some night boating this season, specifically heading out for the fireworks downtown. My bow spotlight is fully broken so I'm trying to decide if I should do a generic halogen replacement, upgrade to higher end LED unit or do something a little custom. I'm assuming I could get a...

I'm waiting to hear from Chicago Harbors on where I end up. Really hoping for Dusable. Also really happy with this warm weather cause I have plenty of work to do before it gets back in the water. Going to rewire the batteries and put in an ACR, Oil change and tune up, switching to electric trim...

🔧 Technical Anyone have Mercedes STAR

I'm looking for someone that could help me program out a CEL on my 2005 Mercedes S55. Car is currently registered in CA, but I need to get it registered her in IL and need a CEL removed so I can pass emissions. Obviously willing to compensate you, I'm downtown and can/will drive to you. I'd...

Plow style and it does have some chain, not a ton but I don't know what's normal. Previous Owner hung out at the Play Pen so I assume it worked fine there. I aimed towards the wind, observed the direction the other boats were in, dropped the anchor and made sure the chain was on the ground. I...

I picked up a 2001 Maxum 2700 last week after all and then spent all weekend cruising with friends and family. Super happy so far, but also have a handful of little things that need work. Did a pretty good distance up and down Chicago, went through the locks and cruised the river and then tried...

I should be joining the boat world before this weekend. I already gave it a look over once and going to put down a deposit on a Maxum 2700 SCR this afternoon and should be an owner by Saturday! Anyone have recommendations for winter storage? I'd like to start getting that squared away. Sunset...

I hear ya, I do, but here's my "commute" from home. $1,700 cheaper for the bouy. I can pay transient fees every month at Burnham for cleaning or extra maintenance and still come out ahead. Or I could buy a kayak to paddle my own way and still be ahead.

Burnham only has 35' slips left, pushing that price even higher. I'm still leaning towards Monroe for this season and to transfer to Burnham next year. If the harbors did prorating, it'd be a different story. Pretty BS that they don't.

26ft power boat on a tandem axle trailer. I live downtown, pretty much on top of Monroe Harbor, so that's why I prefer the location. In an apartment so obviously don't have space for a trailer or out of water storage. I do plan to pull it out of Lake Michigan a couple times a year to go to New...

Thanks! Expecting to use every other weekend or so. Certainly not infrequent. I do still plan to call Burnham and get confirmation. The boat is in Northern Wisconsin, so a big pain to make multiple trips. The idea would be to bring it down when purchased. I did see Millennium garage does...

They have an availability chart on the site that shows what's open. Burnham is all waitlist and Monroe has openings.

I might be making a purchase in the next week or two and now that I'm getting real serious I'm finding I have a lot of semantics questions. Looking to dock in Monroe Harbor on a bouy. Burnham looks full and I want to dock as close to home as possible. Anyone have experience with the bouys...
