I love log cabins, but most do not, especially outside of the Northwoods or as vacation properties. My neighbor in Fox River Grove had a log cabin home, and it took a while to sell. It takes a special buyer, for sure.

Yeah, my Grandpa and Grandma live next door at Leasure Village. I didn't know the golf course isn't open anymore. It's a lot more natural than a housing development.

used to be... now lucky if I go out 1-2 times per year I am a big supporter of keeping land as natural as possible.

Not surprisingly the town of Fox Lake supports removing green space for development. (Tax $$$$) but that sucks.

I think that house has been in the process of construction for decades. That might explain the weird price history. The land is also worth good money also... Maybe $600K in 2005.

Does anyone want a 15,000 sqft house on 10 acres for $2.7 million? Seems like a great value. It's just VERY ugly  https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/24575-N-State-Route-59-Barrington-IL-60010/4860574_zpid/

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/273-Donlea-Rd-Barrington-IL-60010/87705370_zpid/ Made a craigslist deal at this house a few years ago. 2019 or 2020. It was rundown, overgrown, and junk everywhere. It looked like a junkyard outside. I am really not sure what was going on. Maybe a forclosure...

I was like... Seems like a solid buy for $245K Then looked at the pictures and realized it looks like a hoarder was running a daycare out of the house.

Almost half a million for 5 acres and has been for sale since 2018. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/298-Otis-Rd-Barrington-IL-60010/157968357_zpid/ Bought in 2008 for 1.4 million

$90K an acre if my math is right. Im not sure if that would be attractive to a developer for that kinda money. I think parcels in Barrington hills need to be 5 acres at minimum. So could build 8 homes.

They aren't similar prices, that's the thing. Homes off the flood plain are almost always more money. Your paying for mandatory flood insurance as well as taking a risk of flooding issues with a home in the flood plain. Usually gets you a cheaper purchase price.

Well, you are sure dismissing a $250k house on the chain because it's in a flood plan. Surely you have better options for the money. Not everyone can buy half a million dollar plus homes that are guaranteed high and dry.

If I didnt know any better I would guess this was a better section of Gary Indiana or something. Looking at the empty lots and local establishments. Where exactly is the "bar area" that everyone visits?
