Had a few of those experiences in my western journeys. We walked into a diner on a Saturday AM and it literally went silent. Like record scratch silent.

I don’t give a fuck lmao. Don’t draw attention to yourself, mind ya business and enjoy the cheap drinks.

Sounds pretty awesome. I like the outdoor ones because you can feed them every 10-12 hours with hardly processed wood. Big ass chunks aren’t a problem, plus it could take care of the house Would love to do solar up there, I think I touched on it in a different thread. Would love for the...

I considered that. Radiant floor heat with an outdoor wood boiler. My neighbor’s got one for sale up there too. Pretty sure they’re relatively easy to retrofit into a forced air system for the house. Just like a heater core I’d imagine

I would for sure want to build a garage up there so I had a place to work on stuff, that’s usually what I do to kill time if I’m not playing farm sim or something, so having a relatively climate controlled, well lit spot would be key to staying sane.

I never have, but I 100% catch your drift lol. I’ve spent 4-5 days up there by myself and if you’ve got nothing to do it gets a bit cabin fever-esque lol. The bar I go to up there is usually pretty up beat, but if you venture into a bar on the res or a run down townie bar you’ll have that vibe...

You guys with the steady income are my idols for the past year though lmao. If anything, doing this would save me $1,500/mo mortgage and water bill and help me get back on track financially. I’m on a well up there with propane heat so it’d just be electric, phone/internet, propane when needed...

My point in moving north and just bunking up at a friends place when needed in this area would be to sell high, ride it out and buy low when the market decides to correct.

My ā€œforeverā€ property is 350-500k right now lol. Nothing extravagant as far as a house goes, just an 1,800-2,400 sq/ft ranch on 40+ acres with outbuildings. As much tillable land as possible would be ideal. My half hearted thought is to sell my house and move to my place in Hayward, Wis...

Man I’d be fucking ecstatic lol. After closing costs I’d be putting a damn chunk of money away at that price. I’d be curious if I could find something and pay cash if things turn in a bad direction.

Seeing the market lately I’m so tempted to list my house for like $260,000, pocket my equity and move to Hayward for a year and see if this bubble bursts like I think it will.

Fucking GOALS. Build a few more outbuildings, eventually a separate residence... that’s a forever property right there. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/N2904-Townline-Rd_Lyndon-Station_WI_53944_M87360-82574

Exactly... it would be $500/mo more for me sticking with 20% down. I pay that difference and then some renting an equipment yard that could be utilized for a pole building and gravel yard on that property...

5br house on 4.4 acres in Burlington, Wis. Sub $5,000/yr taxes... This will be my next move. Currently 2 car attached, 3 car detached garages... Plenty of room to build a pole building. https://www.redfin.com/WI/Burlington/8743-368th-Ave-53105/home/89330179

I’m assuming it needs a fair amount of work and the price reflects it. It’s reasonable in my opinion for the opportunity to have a nice piece of property without being too far out of the way. I’d Imagine you could tackle most things for $75,000-$100,000 in material and some know how.

Ventilation systems do a lot, also, you don't have to treat them nearly as harshly as a hotel pool, so, there's less smell to work with anyways.
