So Luke, you may remember my former B-I-L Jay. He also moved there.

Since they're all around Mickey Mouse Land, there are a shit load of houses that were built and used initially as timeshares for people coming down there. Then when those houses go on the market, they sell fairly cheap he said. He picked up a killer bachelor pad just south of my sister (still in Clermont I believe).

In to the main area, kitchen to the left, front room there, bedrooms all with private baths to the right, the pool straight ahead...

The Lanai/pool setups are NICE. We are working on interviewing contractors to put one in our place. They are about $40k to get into the door for a decent sized pool, heater and Lanai plus putting back the fence and grass they destroy during construction. But man its worth it. I could swim just about every day especially with the heater installed. We might skip the lanai though. My wife wants full sun and likes being outside. The Lanai gives you the feeling like its an indoor pool.

But if anyone is seriously thinking about moving to FL, it was the best thing we ever did. I'd do it again 10/10 times. Just waking up everyday to that bluesky and sun, really changes your mood for the better. You really dont realize how much it helps.

Note the property taxes. $7500 on a $540k home. Thats amazing. It would be double that or more in Cook, kane or mchenry co.

Yeah, we pay roughly $11k for a place that's valued at 20% less. It gets more attractive every single day. It's also stressing thinking about the logistics of selling the house, moving, and getting new jobs. I'm sure we'll ending up digging into savings unless either one of our employers allows us to work-from-home until the position can be back filled. There'd probably be at least a month or two where neither one of us has a job. I'd probably just do temp work until I could find a permanent job.

That 40k turns into 50k very fast when building a pool / lanai. A friend in the next subdivision over from us, did the pool kit and was quoted 40k and all in was 50k.

And don’t skimp on the lanai, it’s keeps the pool cleaner, keeps the mosquitoes and No-See-Ums out and adds some security to your pool and house. They have those Lanai’s with the panoramic views with less bracing shown.

We were renting at the time, so it was not too bad for us. But the physical move for our 4bdrm home from woodstock to Land O Lakes was $5k. That was one of the better deals. Atlas and May Flower was more like $8k door to door, and remember they ask for like 10 business days to get your shit there. If I had to do it again, I would get an extra large POD and just hire local at both ends to load and unload it. And on top of that, I'd rent a medium uhaul or penske box truck and load all my TVs, our beds, clothes and anything you want to have the minute you get there. Also bring all your valuables in your truck or in one of your cars. Tow your car behind the box truck and GO. Then when the pod shows up, its all just the rest of your shit and furniture.

This would be the cheapest and safest way to do it. The mover that did us (National Moving and Storage), was basically a bunch of hoods from the south side that rented a Uhaul and stole our stuff for two weeks. Then when it arrived in a semi truck, a bunch of our stuff was broken or lost. And their "insurance" was a joke. Plus they raised the cost of the move at the delivery and held our stuff hostage until we paid them an extra $1500. I was at work at the time and my wife just did it, but I would have MURDERED someone if they pulled that when I was there. It was a nightmare. Luckily we had the cash on hand. BTW thats all they would take was cash. Fucking cunts.

Going on 7 months here no jobs, we do have some jobs lined up shortly and back to the grind.

it was nice to take some time off to be honest, gave us more time to explore our town and areas around us, relax a little, get the kids set up with schooling and so on. Take it all in while you can, relax, enjoy and reset your life.

We ordered the largest pod we could get, and what ever didn’t fit didn’t come with, delivery time was about two weeks or so door to door.

For cars we had them shipped took 48hrs from pick up to delivery. We loaded up our cars with daily items that we needed sooner then 2 weeks as in clothing, kitchen items, etc. we flew down and did a rental car till our cars came down.

My brother-in-law chose to go that route with their lanai. He didn't say how much, but he mentioned it was much more expensive to have the vertical bars left off the lanai.

Do you use the pool alot?
Right now no, too cold outside and pool temp, when the pool temperature is warmer and out side temps are good, yes we use it very often.

We are more of a beach family, after the beach it’s nice to jump in. kids jump in and out all day, we host bbq’s etc so everyone is in and out of it, night swimming etc, it nice to have. More use then I thought I would use it .

Selling homes on the Gulf Coast of Florida
Florida has so many things to offer.

Beaches, pools, giant amusement parks with mouses, rocket launches, year round weather where you can be outside in shorts, laid back rules, no state income tax, etc.

I had lunch with a TCG friend and customer yesterday. We could have dined inside the restaurant but it was so nice we sat on the patio with most of the other diners.

BTW, $500Ks for Apollo Beach is a really good price. If you want to fly down and see homes there, send me a PM.

Depends where you want to be. Closer to the water = less home for the money. For instance, a 2 bedroom condo close to or on the beach may be $500K or more while you can get a large single family home for that further inland. PM me with the features you would want and I can give you more info.
