Last nights storms

Dekalb/Sycamore saw some heavy rain and lightning, but not much aside from a few branches broken here and there. Looking at the radar last night, we had a cell graze us, so nothing serious. Interesting colors in the sky as it rolled in and out.

I guess it was a lot worse down south. Aside from some high winds and rain/thunder there wasnt anything that bad in Palatine. Power flickered off twice for a split second, but aside from that nothing too crazy.

I called my parents. I guess they had 70mph+ winds and tons of trees are down. Theyve also been without power since 5pm yesterday and com Ed says it could be 2-3 days. They live in des plaines.

Yeah it seems northwest burbs got hit pretty hard. 90-100 MPH winds were reported in Mt. Prospect.

Lots of power outages. My dad does power lines/transformers and he got called to Chicago on storm this morning. Said it would be over a week's work getting power back to over 250k people.

My sister lives in west Chicago and they were in the basement waiting for the stymied to pass. She said she's never been so scared before... even the kids asked if they were going to get hurt :sad:

Gave me extra work. I was originally supposed to pull 2 trees out of the river by a golf course, and when we arrived this morning, there were about 5 ADDITIONAL trees. And not anything small by any means. Lol.

I clean out the rivers from trees and branches. The company I do work for does tree service.

If you're serious, I can relay the information to a couple of the co-workers who does work on the side. Not sure what he charges though. (*he does work professionally*)

I'm in crystal lake. I am serious though. So far we've gotten an estimate of $300 to remove one tree (and stump) and $250 to trim a giant maple. We got another estimate for $600 for the same work but this guy was licensed and bonded. I was looking for a third just to round it out.

If they can under cut the $600 estimate and they're insured then they have a deal.

drove home from the girlfriends house in worth (south suburbs palos/orland park area) and took 294 to 290 to rt 14. power was out shortly after i got on 294 and stayed out as i continued on 290 and didn't come back on until i was close to the 355 break. also lots of power out on 14 along with some trees down.

National weather service confirmed two EF1 tornadoes touched down. One in Downers Grove and the other in Mt. Prospect.

I currently have a decent size branch sitting on my roof right now. Waiting on insurance to call us back to see what we can do with it. Lost power for about 24 hours. I was so bored without power i started playing pokemon on gameboy color.
