Isnt snowboarding harder than skiing? Ive never skiied before, but snowboardng kicked my ass last time I went. I pretty much stayed on one hill the whole day.

I've done both once. It only took half a day of skiing before I was on the steepest slopes. On my full day of snowboarding, I never made it past the intermediate hill. I found skiing to be much easier, but I think snowboarding was a little more fun.

Though I hated having to try and 'skate' the board around on the flat areas. The one foot locked to the board made it hard to position your other foot to push off from. It was like skate boarding, but the foot on the board was perpendicular to the direction you are going.

id have no problem on skis im sure but snowboarding just seems so much harder cause of the less movement and freedom of your feet. but id much rather do that than ski. i can skateboard without issue but i dont see that helping me much since your feet are locked in  could be some nice wipeouts to be had

Honestly skateboarding seemed to help me a decent amount with snowboarding. Similar principles. Also snowboards flex a ton so your feet have a bunch of input. As long as you don't catch an edge it's all good.

This is coming up next weekend. I just thought I'd throw out a reminder and see how many people are still thinking of attending this. I only have one confirmed person going from work now. A few people flaked out. As long as I can get at least four people going, I'm still down for this.

If this goes down and all I'd be willing to spend some time with people just learning to snowboard. I was a instructor for 6 years at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park. Always willing to teach people to ride.

I just took a lesson there last sat, first time on a board, I should be in for, this I may hit the bunny hill couple more times at raging

As long as I can get at least one more person to go, I'm game for this. It'd be more fun with a bigger crowd, but I know there a lot of commitment-phobes here. I guess we can talk more of travel arrangements / car pooling when it gets a little closer.

Whats ball park on rental gear + lift ticket if we have 4+? Also I would want SirMarco to confirm this isn't a death trap for a n00b snowboarder(s)

The lift pass is usually around $42 and the rental is around $24. For four people, probably around $264. They have plenty of easier slopes for the beginners.

I guess as long as I have a couple of people committing, I wouldn't have to know about anyone else until the morning of unless they wanted to carpool. I have strict rules on carpooling unfortunately. Those that are too late, are left behind. I'm not talking about five minutes or anything. But if someone is like 30 minutes late, and I'm driving, they're on their own.
