I planned on getting atleast a two piece leather, boots, better gloves anyways.

Pratt, with running faster then 10.000 Is this when one has to get licensed to run that quick? And do you know how much it cost to get a license?

I know in a car 9.99 and faster requires a license. I am not sure about the bikes. I would assume it is the same.

You have to become a NMRA member. Which includes you buy their stupid magazine. That is $130 for two years.

Then you have to get a doctors physical. Once you have that you can make your licensing runs. Once that is done you send in your paper work.

Then you pay the $100 (or maybe $150) for the license good in one class. I have to send mine in yet. So I could be wrong. haha They form is not helpful if you have never used it. They list like 8 options. lol

pretty sure the city of byron denied them that and its why they cant have lights. no racing at night b/c of he noise or some shit.

I think they did get approval a couple years ago. But cost and pissing the neighbors off was why they are not up. haha They are not sure they will have good turn outs for week night test and tune.

I think if you are just running test & tune a roll bar, 5 point harness and such will be fine. I would bet their tech on T&T days will be loose compared to a NHRA points race. I don't see their T&T days changing a whole lot. At least to where it follows every word of the rule book. I guess we will see what happens.

from what i recall part of becoming an nhra sanctioned track is that you agree to enforce the safety standards across the board to "make racing safer" id bet this next year it will prob be fairly loose but they will tighten the reigns.

nhra started out as a safety and timing organization that helped make racing at the track more acceptable/safe. untill cars start recieving 5 star crash ratings at 120mph cars will need the additional bracing and safety requirements that nhra/ihra require

you can die in a 13second car that has a suspension component fail at the track as you go through the traps at 110mph just as easily as you can die in the stands from someone torching a barrel.

your life isnt a place to save money, its a bitch and the costs jump but IF shit rolls down hill at least you have a chance at walking away.

when i lived in california nhra had a booth at the pomona swapmeet with several racers in it spewing the virtues of following the rules...kinda hard to ignore the bennifits when your talking to a guy with a prosthetic left arm and another guy with a prosthetic right foot

I am all for safety equipment. I have every thing in my car to be legal for NHRA. I have to send in my paper work and check for the license. My car will have some things not required by NHRA like a fire suppression system. This was discussed in Eagles transmission thread. I agree with the rules. I have seen how it has saved people before. And like you said, when you see the results of a crash, fire, etc. it is a great way for you to change your mind about spending the money. But not everyone sees it the same way.

yeah nowadays ya gotta hope "that guy" isnt in the lane next to ya
Agreed. It does worry me.

My buddy was t bones in the drivers door just pass the finish line going 170mph by a car that had no business going as fast as it did. Rebuilt 80% of the body, some suspension pieces and such all on his own dime. At least his cage did it's job and he walked away unhurt.
