I have 225/60 Goodyear Assurance Tripletreds and they handle great in all types of weather. I picked-up a set from Discount Tire for under $500 installed about 2-3 years ago. There is still a ton of tread left, but it helps when the treadwear is somewhere between 740-780 (can't remember).

They look pretty nice too.

I had 245/50 Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs before the Tripletreds and the wheel well gap killed me. Even with the GMPP suspension, it still looked like a 4x4.

Damn i just checked just tires and the tripple tread runs $158 a pop... I think the only deal my buddy can do is wave the install fee. I gotta make a few calls and shop around.

Shorter sidewall will give you a firmer ride, due to the stiffness of the sidewalls.

What performance? Driving to and from work? Driving in a straight line down the drag strip? A heavy car with street tires will see minimal 'performance gains' from a wider tire, especially one that is on a wheel that is too narrow.

I think a stock gtp rim is 6.5". Way to small for a 245/50 IMO.

The hook up i'm getting would be $125 (Tire rack price) for the triple tread no tax and a $20 balance fee. No installation fee. This goes for any tire whether I bring him the tires or I purchase one in shop.

So heres the deal, I only had a few tires to choose from. Good Year Triple Tread, Good Year Fuel Max, and Dunlop Signiture

I was reading reviews on all three tires and all of them got terrible reviews on tire rack. I really like the triple treads but my buddy told me they are noisy. After looking up reviews almsot every single review complained about the noise. So, I couldn't make up my mind, especially because there are so many more tires to choose from. Im going to continue looking on tire rack and maby even have some shipped to me. I checked out HEAVYKEY's suggestion (Bfgoodrich traction TA ) and they got great reviews like he said. Unfortunettly they were not in stock. I asked the guy thats giving me the deal and he said that they have high failure rates... :dunno:

I love these comments about noise... who gives a shit if they are a little noisier? Who's car doesn't have engine noise, loud(er) exhaust or a stereo (not even talking about aftermarket) that would easily override any tire noise? I've never had an issues with my Tripletreds and noise. I also just purchased the Goodyear Fuel Max for my wife's Torrent. I got (4) 235/65/16 for $526 installed at Discount Tire. It has been a few weeks and so far so good. Handled pretty good in the snow last weekend too.

I don't remember what i said, but i never said anything about a thinner tire "cutting" through snow. People are crazy to think that actually is true...

they make zero performance summer only tires in 225/60/16 because its not necessary :dunno:

Which is why we run the 245's, i ran them until i got wheels that actually look nice on the car. Stock wheels stick like 2' inside the wheel wells, that looks like garbage. IDK what you guys have a problem with, 245's on stock wheels BARELY sticks out. You over exaggerate everything because you're trying to prove your point. Fine, point proven, PANDA and people that run those tires don't give a shit what you think. Stop trying.

And here's your bubbling out, fools. 245/50/16 on a stock wheel

:noes: whatever will i do with those tires sticking out so far? :noes:
