Its strange how they put a proper motor in a competent chassis and everybody loves the '11 stang, but there is a proper motor already in what has been called a great chassis, yet the camaro is still considered behind... I really don't know what gm can do. I don't think throwing HP at it is gonna fix it

No, there is a lot hype surrounding the 5.0 for the ford guys. I understand that are excited about the new motor but Motor Trend is not a bible on auto comparisons. The 5.0 is a tenth or to faster at best, sometimes even with an LS3 SS and people don't get it. The stang still has a cheap interior and iffy styling. It's not an acciden that the Camaro out sold it this year with only 1 model compared to 3.

Cool. So have I. The 5.0 is impressive and deserves the hype. As far as throttle feel, power band and overall responsiveness the 5.0 simply feels better. The last 2010 Camaro SS I drove was a pre-production model so maybe they sorted out the tune, but that thing wasn't very impressive in drivability. Yeah, a simple tune and mods fix that, but from the factory I was disappointed.

The 5.0 feels much more responsive and faster, much like an LS1 F-body but when you line them up it's not the case between the 2 cars I have driven. I have a couple more small mods. The Camaro platform doesn't feel as fast as it is.

I guess I dont understand how the 5.0 is overrated then?

From this owners' perspective it sounds like the Camaro needed mods to match the 5.0's character.

Did you not read MT when the SS camaro came out? They didnt exactly "bash" it, so in reality they made both sound pretty good.

The cubes arguemnet makes about as much sense as the F/I arguement some GM people used when the Cobra came out. It's all BS, power is power is long as it comes on the car to begin with. It's over rated because people talk as if the Camaro is a mid 13 car and the 5.0 is a mid 12. Not the case on either account.

Let's have a math lesson. 1 Camaro coupe for 2010, 1 mustang coupe + 1 mustang convertible + 1 mustang GT500 = 3 models for 2010.

The 11 GT has just as a cheap plastic interior as the Camaro. Also the new mustang refresh (2010+) conisitenly falls behind the Camaro's looks in public opinion poles.

I'll give you that there are two models, vert yes, but a GT500 isnt another "model", its still a mustang coupe

Ok, so its not so much the interior is anything to write home about when it is just as cheap as the camaros, didnt know if you were trying to say the camaro's was better... lol @ public opinion poles

Either way sales #s for both of these cars dont mean jack IMHO considering fleet sales from any of the rental car places buy thousands of these things

The GT500 is the high performance niche car. Both the mustang and challenger have a car like that where as the Camaro does not yet. It still factors in to sales. If public opinions and sales figures mean nothing then why are we in this thread??

The 5.0 is a fast car that holds the advantage in acceleration in the quarter mile by a very slim margin and even that is argueable. That's why it's over ratted. Undisputed king of the pony cars? Not really. All comes down to personal preference. IMO there is no clear cut winner like people try to make it out to be.
