I'm still rolling on my Potenzas, Blizzaks will be on this week.

I would never even dare to drive my summer tires in the snow its just stupid. It would be like driving a boat without a propeller. And if you just so happen to get into an accident... im pretty sure your insurance company has the right to deny a claim if you were using summer only tires in winter.

First I'm a dumbass and WILL kill people and now my insurance will deny any claims I make in the winter because of my tires! Lol this just keeps getting better and better.

Those tires were great and got me through two winters. They weren't even really official snow tires. They were 205 wide all-season with a deep tread.

they were rated for snow and ice (as the insignia on the sidewall indicated). I really wouldn't put them in the same category as all seasons.... They were like snow tires with a side of all-season....

Summer tires.... Awesome in summer, shitty in winter
All season tires.... Not great in anything but not shitty either
Winter tires.... Awesome in winter, shitty in summer.

Me personally if I have summer tires on a set of rims I'll have winter or all season tires on another set of rims or have a winter beater to drive. If I got a car with all season tires I'm not wasting money on winter tires unless the car is that horrible to drive in winter. Can a car with summer tires be driven in the winter? yes. Is it the safest? Hell no but it can still be done. Just my .02's

Lets take a poll.... Who here has ever hit another car with their car? In the rain? In the snow?

Nope, had a car hit me though on dry pavement. Dumbass tried merging out of left hand turn lane back into the regular lane. If it was snowing or raining my swerving that netted less damage wouldn't have happened as I would have plowed right into him.

On another note, when I was 17 I had my old caprice kick out sideways out of nowhere in about a foot of snow. Was traveling 15mph and ended up sliding sideways for two houses before a tree stopped me. I was on summer tires and if I would have been on all season or snow tires my back end would have never kicked out or kicked out that hard. The cuase was I was riding in the middle of a side street and went to just shift the car over to the right side of the road and with side streets being sloped for drainage, as soon as the left tire reached the right side of the road it slide the ass end out.

Hmmm, maybe they were. I really don't remember now since it has been about five years since I bought them. I thought I remember going the cheaper route and just getting some bad ass all-seasons.

In my 15 years of driving I have never rear ended anyone. Well once intentionally :s00ls: (minor altercation) Ive only been in 1 real accident back in 1999, totally not my fault. The other accident was in a parking lot. (minor)

edit: I forgot about the 2 idiot's that rear ended my G8, nothing major either time.

NONE WERE IN BAD WEATHER

my point is that no matter what tires are on the car, people can still get into accidents. the best you can do is just drive your car so it doesn't hit anything and pray everybody else doesn't hit you. i am comfortable controlling my car with the tires of my choice and so fay its worked out well for me

Man, $500 (on the expensive side) for 5 years + of snow driving is a crazy luxury expense! Let's do the math............. $500 divided by 5 years, get your calculator, is $100 per year. Why would anyone make such a crazy investment to aid in their winter travels? This is the type of frivolous spending that has this country in its current debt!!!

I'm not sure that logic is very sound. So because a parachute can fail on a skydiver, they shouldn't wear one when they jump out a plane? I'd have to say that your odds of surviving a skydive with a parachute are much higher than without one.

And then again by that same logic. For the last four years I've been renting helmets at Byron at $5/day. I've never ended up needing one in a crash and I could have saved myself about $80 over the years. Does that mean I should never rent a helmet again? It only takes one bad accident to mess up your skull. I say $80 is cheap insurance to increase your odds of not getting brain damage by getting in an accident at the track.

and ive driven for 11 years with no incident so that leaves me with $1,100 to pay a $500 insurance deductible if got forbid i did get into an accident. so by your math that leaves me $600 in the black. we can play those games all day

You are the one calling it a luxury. I am dollarizing it for you on an annual basis. If people want to spend $100 a year on average for some comfort while driving to know that they are more in control of their car in really bad conditions, then why not and why should they be called girls??

If you are such a masterful snow driver why aren't you a champion rally racer? I am sure your talents would take you much further in the professional racing world opposed to making stupid comments on a car forum.

first off, i was the one whom said many times that i am no pro driver and i believe that many people have the same abilities as i do behind the wheel. i simply dont outdrive the car when conditions warrant it. i slow down if it is too slick. and secondly i wasnt calling people girls because of the fact that they are using snow tires, but because everybody is all "should i put them on yet? when are you doing yours?" it was like a goddamn hen party. ever been around chicks talking about what they were doing and when while pregnant? thats what it sounded like.

on a side note i made it home safely today without any wheelspin even with all the rain... then when i pulled in the garage i figured out why, its 42* outside.... boy am i lucky it wasnt below 40 or i would have never made it up the driveway
