I have my iPhone up for auction on eBay, and I get this email form someone out of the country. Not too out of the ordinary, I sell/ship all over the world, but a few things just aren't right.....

Dear Mate,
It is so nice viewing this item ads, I wounder if this item is still available for sale? i love your item to send for my cousin in abroad, then I will like to purchase it making an offer sum of $550 for this item. Payment may be through PayPal then i will love you end the auction and send me your PayPal money request for the payment..

Regards..

-Really? You take pleasure in looking at my ads? That sucks.
-You're willing to pay $550 for an iPhone 3G? That's dumb, but hey, it's your money, i'll gladly take it.

So I humor him, tell him that it is still available, then I get sent these "payment confirmations" from "paypal".

I find it ironic that they used a paypal image talking about privacy and financial information. So after I get these, I play along and I email him back and tell him that as soon as the payments have cleared into my account, I'll send the phone. So I get this in return:

I just got this the other day. The attachment asks for username, password, and all other personal information.

If I were stupid and filled it out and sent it back they would have access to paypal account, credit card numbers, bank account etc...

Anytime I post anything on craigslist I get so many scammers.

There is another one, where they send you money...and take it back...the exchange rate favors them, and you are left to pay it. It happened over to a guy on gearslutz selling a microphone on ebay. They paid and retracted several times...it wasn't a lot (like $80-90), but it would still suck to be out though. Paypal got involved, but said the transfer was kosher, and he had to pay.

As an update, I got another repeat of this email this morning lol. I'm still thinking of a clever reply. Suggestions?
