it's kind of apples and oranges without people stating what their coverage limits are, deductibles, rental or towing coverage, etc.

Yep, exactly.

I'm with State Farm currently. Had been with them originally after I was out from my parents' policy. But, then, a number of years ago, they raised my rates because I was incorrectly "noted" as being married. I've NO idea how they got that info ... I've never been married...lol. So, I switched to All State, then went back to State Farm when my bro-in-law suggested I talk to his agent. They got me better rates than I had with them before....

I called my company again, and had them ADD my truck to the policy....

Dropped the rates to within $5 a month of the lowest offer I had found elsewhere, so I'm sticking with Ameriprise. I guess the multi-car discount is drastic enough and the ranger is cheap enough that it offset my policy like $180 cheaper every 6 months....

So I'm good now :)

that's weird - i'm pretty sure they usually go down when someone is noted as married, because it means someone is more likely to drive safer and take less risks.

threaten to leave maybe theyll give you money off.

I tried that before, but they insisted I was getting a low rate. I was shopping for insurance before, then the whole accident debacle happened. Then this POS decided to go AWOL on me for awhile. Now that things have calmed down, Im gonna do one last rebuttle and then start shopping again. All I need is liability only for now.

Yep...definitely weird.

I asked my agent at the time (who had taken over the business from the agent my parents had originally) when they had noted that I was married, but he said he didn't know. I couldn't quite believe that, because I would THINK that the system would have to show an "effective" date of when that happened. And, it was the same policy I had started back in 1992, when I bought my first car (which I still have).

It felt (at the time) like they were trying to justify raising my rates.... So, I switched ... then switched back to State Farm via a different agent ... and better rates than before. And, yes, they have me as single ... lol.

that is a significant change and i would find it hard to believe they don't have when it took place. maaaybe the agent couldn't access it, but if not the home office should be able to. i find it hard to believe such a large company would not keep track of that data. but they can hire me to help out if they don't :)

Since I moved to Indiana, I have been with Allstate. Great options and excellent customer service from my local branch.

I just got married on June 18, so I called to update my information and here is where my wife and I stand (no accidents/tickets for me, but she totaled a car 12/2008):

I am 26 and she is 23.

Some other smaller perks I can't remember either

Not bad if you ask me...
