I just like the idea of having the saftey net of all 4 wheels being able to get traction, especially if you're stop on any sort of steep incline. Im sure the G8 can manage, I just cant see it managing "better" than an EVO.

Remember that the only thing awd does better than rwd in snow is go. Stops and turns exactly the same. Snow tires make all the difference. Grow a sack! What's more fun than RWD in the snow if you know what you are doing?
The G8s weight distribution I am sure helps as well.
A G8 with winter tires will outperform an Evo with summer tires in the winter. It's not about AWD, it's all about the tires.

lol I missed up when I gave them a 3rd option of "other"
Well our family/wife's car is a 06 V6 Sonata which has been a great car. The mileage is getting close to 80k. I'd like to upgrade to something that will carry 4 people and there junk w/o issue. Something I can drive wherever whenever w/o worries.
My current DD is being shared with my kid for school, leaving my ass at home with NO car like now.
So I'd like something with some potential to mod in the future, CAI and exhaust
Honestly the ONLY benefit to awd in snow is being able to start easily from a stop. Tires make all the difference. My crx with snow tires was equally as good as my wrx with snow tireslol I drive my Trans Am all year round. I know exactly what Im doing in that car in the winter time and although its fun in snow filled parking lots and kicking out the back end at slower speeds around corners... that doesnt help the fact that its easier to get stuck at a stop in a RWD car. Mabe Im the only one whos annoyed by not being able move at stops lights lol.
This is true. It is a heavy ass car.
Why wouldnt you have winter tires on the EVO as well in the winter? In that case an EVO with summer tires, would outperform a G8 GT with winter tires in the summer lol.
Haha so go slower and get terrible mpg? Sounds great.TBSS
I'm just saying, it's more about tires than AWD. I just used that as an example.

I'd buy two Jaguar S-Type R's
Or one jaguar s-type R and 2 Suzuki gsxr's
Ohh, and 4 baby turtles.................

Do you have snow tires or all season?
It's true awd moves in snow even with shitty tires but it's umm interesting at times in the snow. My fwd with snow tires was much more predictable. I think it's because when I do get wheel spin they're all doing it which makes it feel sketchy at times. I doesn't happen alot but every once in a while changing lanes or turning. I think it's a moot point really for what the OP wants the car for. Sounds like he'd be happier in the G8 anyways
i ran summer tires on the evo when i had it during the winter....its not all sunshine and rainbows like people believe
I just have 225 all seasons on it right now but I fully understand there is a night and day different between all seasons and winter tires. Basically... I know exactly why my car sucks in the snow this year lol. I had snow tires on it my first winter and it still wasnt "great", but much much better.
If it was me personally looking for a year round DD, I wouldnt want any thing fast or expensive. I would just be looking for a cheap, slow, fuel efficent, awd car, with tires for the specific season because I have my TA for the summer. So if I was the OP, neither car would be my pick lol.
Last winter, I ran my 275 summer tires the whole winter.... that got real interesting lol.
