Perhaps, but only within reason. I don't mind cops doing their job, but going over the top and pulling people out of their cars and searching just cuz he has tints is BS.
I got busted for passing a school bus with the stop arm out because the driver put the arm out while I was at the front of the bus with no time to stop. She turned in my plate to the cops and they camt to my house and gave me a ticket. I had to get a lawyer, go to court and it cost me about $500 total otherwise I would have lost my licence for 3 months.
Yellow lights are on the bus are there for a reason... they don't mean keep going like everybody thinks like with stoplights...
They are there to let people know "Hey, I'm about to stop and turn the red lights on and extend stop arm. Get ready to stop."
What? For real? Did they ticket him for the tints?
Serious question:
Anyone in the house know the legalities of being asked to step out of your car? You don't have to submit to a search, do you?
The U.S. Constitution prohibits the government from interfering with your right to remain silent, to consult with an attorney, and to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures by law enforcement. However, it is up to you to assert these rights.
If you are confronted by a police officer, remain calm. Be courteous and provide your identification. Politely refuse to answer any further questions. Ask to talk to an attorney. Do not consent to any search of your person, your property, your residence or your vehicle. Tell the officer you would like to give him or her this card, which is a statement of the constitutional rights you wish to invoke. Do not reach for this card until you have obtained the officer's permission to do so.
If the officer fails to honor your rights, remain calm and polite, ask for the officer's identifying information and ask him or her to note your objection in the report. Do not attempt to physically resist an unlawful arrest, search or seizure. If necessary, you may point out the violations to a judge at a later time.
Locked glove boxes or sealed trunks. Very interesting! Thanks for that 411.
i think if they ask you to step out you have to, but if they ask to search, you can deny it.
this is what ur suppose to do... dont know if it works or anything or how the cop would react

i got pulled over in bull valley last week for "using my turn signal too late before making a turn" i LOL'd cuz it was obvious he just wanted to see if i was drunk or not cuz it was rather late. the truth was that i was coming from a guys house i usually dont visit and was deciding the best way to get home from there, so after i came to a full stop at a stop sign i then turned on my signal when i decided which way i was gonna take. it was bullshit but i was nothing but polite and he was really cool back to me. thats all you can do really, just be nice. arguing will get you nowhere with a cop!
i saw a video about this where they acted out some different scenarios.
when they asked the guy to get out of the car he did... he rolled up his window and took his keys with him and locked the door when he got out then closed it. then when the officer asked why he did that he said thats what i always do when i get out of my car.... then the officer asked if he had something to hide and if he could look in the car. the guy said no i have nothing to hide but i do not give permission for you to search my vehicle. so the cop says, you know all i have to do is call and get a warrant or get the dogs for probable cause... he said that is fine but you have no grounds for a warrant... so the cop got frustrated and let him go.
if you get pulled over and they have no probable cause to search the car, then you dont have to let them. tell them your in a hurry to somewhere and its a waste of your time. they cant search locked glove boxes or trunks that are sealed from the cab without a warrant either.
yea bull valley is crazy strict but i knew i wasnt speeding so i wasnt too worried. the only thing i could think of that i did was the fact that i had just switched my plate to the vanity plate and was thinking maybe i was supposed to call and verify that the old ones were gone or something?!?!?
