I guess everyone has their opinion.

I'd love the see the V-tec guy take his "honda" and beat a Cobra R on a Road course, which beats C6 Z06's on a road Course.

That car was not meant for Drag Racing,

Also, a Z28 doesn't make more to the wheels or crank, since Z28's were rated just a tad over 300 CRANK HP. Also, GREAT DRIVERS are needed to run sub 13's in a Z28. I think you might have meant Sub 12's as your car apparently runs almost flat 13's, at least that is what you are trying to say. What are you smoking? Can I has some too?

OP- Welcome to the Garage. Whereabouts are you in Rockford? I've got a buddy up there with a KB lighting.

i personally saw his camaro run 13.1 so i know he isnt lying... and most do dyno over 300HP bone stock.

and in every test i have ever seen the cobra R gets beat by 01 Z06 in road course testing, so i dont know why you think it would be faster than a C6Z

Not sure why you guys are throwing low-blows toward mustangs and cobras. I never said anything bad about GM vehicles and what not.

Vtec- You mentioned you cannot afford a Cobra or Mustang, and that is why they suck. Well, I spent 21K on my Cobra with 13K miles on it, and it is a very stout street car stock, and even more of an animal with a tune and pulley. I spent 700 bucks on mods, for over 500HP and 500 TQ.

HeavyKevy- I have no clue if you are joking. His Regal is a high 13 sec car. I ran 12's stock in my 3800+ lb Cobra on a 30 degree day with no traction and normal shifting. Now, I have over 120+ RWTQ and 100 more RWHP and I am a better driver now than I was many a month ago.

His lighting jumps off the line, but stops pulling after so much. Heavy truck. Don will tell ya this too. We are good buddies.

For the record, the Cobra are has a 1.01G on the Slalom which is better than a C6Z. It is too heavy to accelerate in a straight line like the C6Z, but handles way better. There is a reason why Cobra R's are 99.999% of the time driven on a road course, and not on a drag strip.

Yes i agree the ls1 was rated at 300 hp. but go grab a camaro 2000 and up and dyno, and let me know what it puts down. they all put down 315-325 whp. i ran a 13.1 @106 with an auto tranny on a winter tire (kdws) if i had any type of tire i would have hit 12's. Again this was on a bone stock Z28. Id rather own a o3 cobra then a 2000 R. my clutch is currentlly smoking, so i may be fucked up from that.

I love 03-04 cobras...... all i said is the others are slow stock :dunno:

1979-2002 mustang all are 15 sec cars minus the super rare R model.

1988-2002 camaro- trans-am- all are 14 sec or faster

Boosh raced a 03 mustang and beat it with his stock SI at the time.

15.1 vs 15.4

for the record, the slalom is measured in MPH, the skidpad is rated in g's... and even then the #'s are not 100% end all of the handling of the vehicle. you need to think about steering tip in, bump steer, throttle on and off oversteer, brake fade, weight transfer, etc... etc.... the fact is that C5Z's are cheaper and go around a track just as fast or faster than a 00R.... and they have a stereo, AC, leather... i have never seen one test putting the 00R ahead of the C5Z, let alone a C6Z

Not that I don't believe you, but I don't think that Mustang driver had ANY idea about what he was doing. Hell I've beaten SI's before 02 or 03 something like that in my Contour....and the Mustang should be a second or so quicker in the 1/4 than me.

I've seen plenty of 99-04 Mustang GT's running mid 14's with good drivers. That guy running a 15 couldn't drive for crap. No offense to the mustang guy.

99-01 Cobra's ran low-mid 13's depending on the driver. Same with the Mach 1's.

03/04 Cobra's have run 12.4's and 12.5's stock. That is with 360 RWHP and 3800+ lbs with an IRS.

Don't let one guy that can't drive think they are all slow. They aren't. I've owned imports, and now american cars. My G/F had an Eclipse GT, 2006, we thought that was fast. Then I got the 07 Mustang, which is a very good amount faster stock. Then I S/C'ed it, and it was balls to the wall fast. Then I wanted more, and got my 03. Sorry for ranting on, lol.

Cobra R- 700FT Slalom @ 70.4 MPH, Lateral Grip 200ft, 1.01G
C6Z06-490 FT Slalom @ 45.6 MPH. Lateral Grip 200ft .97G

Those are the best times I could find for both on the Slalom and the Grip for both the C6Z and Cobra R. Granted, there is a 400lb weight difference, but the Cobra R is designed for road course. The C6Z can keep up with the Cobra R on a road course, and destroy it on the street. Plus, all Vette's have A/C, standard seats, and a CD Player/Radio, lol!!!!!

The only reason Cobra R's are expensive are due to the rarity. There were only 300 ever made. I 100% agree they are not worth the cost. I'd rather take an 03/04 Cobra and call it a day.

Funny thing is, the previous owner of my Cobra, road raced this car @ the Autobahn track, and pulled extremely similar numbers as the Cobra R, and my Cobra is way faster on the street, and more comfy. LOL
