I'm sure Ally is having to add a pile to their loss reserves after buying all that garbage credit from Carvana, a portion of that debt is essentially unsecured.
In the end they will come out like a rose on the deal I'm sure but it may be furry getting there.

Ally made a ton of money while it was there for the taking and didn't get out soon enough. Looks like they're trying to salvage what they can. How long until Carvana goes belly up?

Sad part is how underwater many people who bought cars over the past couple years are going to be.

Doesn’t look like the dropping market is hurting car auctions. Watching Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2023 and vehicles are going for stupid money still.
In 2008 people saw collector cars hold value well. Much better than anywhere else you could park your money. It's the baby version of the art world now. Not as good as gold but better than typical stock market returns in down turns.

Stock up on your Terminators now boys! Rough times ahead.
'80s, '90s, and early 2000's cars are coming up for sure. The age groups with that disposable income want the vehicles they couldn't have when they were young. First, it was Ford Model A's & T's, then 50's hot rods, and then 60's & 70's muscle cars. Now its Gen X sparking the next big thing.

But 80-90's cars will never be classics! /s

I recently had the idea of trying to find an lt1 powered B body wagon. They’re fucking $15k+ now when a year or so ago they were $5k. :fu:

Ya, all the cars I thought about buying had jumped in price over the last couple of years. I am sure many of them will stay strong or increase. Especially clean, low-mileage examples.

My friend keeps trying to buy a 3rd Firebird. But, he only wants to pay 3-5k for a Clean rust free car. Those cars are GONE for that price. Those cars are now 8-12k, and the really nice cars are between 15k and 50k depending on rarity/condition.
Yep, been watching for 3 years for one to be my summer car. Long gone are those 3k low miles 6cyl ones. 2 years ago I was passing up really good 2nd gens for 10k. Now 10k is basically a roller.
