Watching Tears for Fears

Reminded me of my 1980 250r

OMF Man, that thing was fun, and extremely dangerous

I picked this up this summer. So much fun.

Family friend asked my dad if he wanted this '69 Yamaha DS6C that he's had in storage forever - my dad wasn't interested but asked me if I was, so I'll try to get this thing up here maybe this winter. Tank is all rusted and gunked up, but otherwise it's complete. Most parts are still available and it has Mikuni carbs on it, so they'll be easy to go through.

I've regretted selling my RD125 cafe bike for quite a while, so it'll be fun to have a 2 smoker street bike again. The RD125 was neat, but much more obscure for parts and used goofy TK carbs. A lot of people will convert them to a single carb, but I needed money and sold it off at the time.

Anybody thinking about getting down on an E-bike yet? I think its starting to feel tempting...

Zero, Livewire, Harley, hell I think even KTM...
Not likely for me as gas motorcycles still get great gas mileage, aren't really at a performance disadvantage, have no range limitations, and are far less expensive to purchase. It's difficult to justify $15k+ for something that'll only do maybe 100-150 miles at a time. I couldn't even ride to Starved Rock and back from Plainfield...

My recent bike was only $7k. I'd consider a cheap $3kish E-scooter that did 60mph if it had a 60 mile range for short errands and riding on secondary roads around where I live, though.

I couldn’t do ev I I love the sound of an engine screaming
As much as I agree, that said sound has gotten a lot of motocross tracks shut down in the past 30 years.

The electric Stark VARG actually looks pretty dope - I definitely see a shift headed this way whether people like it or not.

Since Ken Roczen's Honda deal fell through, he's been riding every bike under the sun, including this Stark. I don't think the AMA would allow one to race with the current 450 class, but his take on it was pretty interesting below:

Here's a video of him on it.

I would do an electric dirt bike I normally only ride 10-15 miles at a crack, but I have no interest in an electric street bike

Just like having the proper tool for the proper job, certain E-bikes like dirt bikes on a track or short trail rides will be more acceptable for early adopters.

And yes, the relative quietness while ripping through a calm forest or near a residential area will eliminate one of the most common complaints that other folks have about the sport/hobby as it won't be disruptive to all the Karens.

Went for a lunchtime ride to Cycle Gear in Bolingbrook and grab some chili at Danny's Pizza. Tempted to get a Lithium battery as they have $20 off any purchases over $99 until Dec 4, but probably not from them.
I was soooo tempted to make a lunch run around the block. Ended up slapping some paint on the bare wood trim around my new front door.

Bigger kick in the nads is that I winterized both bikes. ? They're both in their cocoons. Track bike definitely needs a new chain next season. I think 12,000 miles on the original from 2007 is pretty good. Especially after all the hammering it has taken.
