The base is cold medicine but they do cut it with all kinds of other bullshit that could include household chemicals.
Thats 1 drug I dont know anybody that sells it. Only have 1 friend who does it and he has actually been clean for a few months now.
Thats more mainstream in the smaller towns. My buddy that was hooked on it with his Wife used to say its the poor mans coke

how my pool doesn't have a bottom drain really showed it's head though

had heater jacked to 89*... well. the top 18" of the water was 89-90*.

i need to figure out how to turn my pool roomba on from my phone or just have it run daily then id be good cuz that fucker circulates a lot of water.

You should be running your filter daily, regardless. The amount of time depends on pool size and pump size, as that will dictate the “turnover” rate (I think I’m using the right terms) of the pool water, aka how long it takes for all the water in the pool to have been through the pump. But yes the pool roomba will help turnover the water from the bottom with the water from the top.

My moms 21 foot pool which saw a solar cover when it wasn’t in use, was run everyday on a timer for about 7 hours and shocked once a week, and just some chlorine tablets stayed clear all summer even when the chlorine level dipped due to missing a week here or there without doing any shock.

Our pool runs daily for 8-10 hours regardless if its used or not. Shocked every Monday morning and chlorine tabs in the floater.

You guys are turning your filters off?

Mine is plugged in from May to September and I still want more. Then again, I just have a peasant pool with the supplied cartridge system.

My pool was running 24/7 too. I shut it off to clean the cartridge filter and that's it. I used hairnets in the skimmer and changed those daily so my filter stayed pretty clean.

Ours probably runs for almost half the day, year round. We just had to pool service company come out today and give our pool a good cleaning. We still haven't had our new pool orientation, so I'm not too pool savvy yet. I'm looking forward to them coming out and giving me a walk through on how it all works. I'd prefer not to pay someone $120/month to do something I can do.

You'll be able to maintain it yourself no problem once you get the hang of it.

Get some pool test strips, the day of your pool service use the strips to see the ph levels, find out the service did to the pool as they should say “ add chlorine “ or something, then run another test after the pool company leaves and see the new test strip and compare the two. Understanding the balance and what they did.

I would say give the pool company a few months to balance out the water and the hot tub, once that is good to go find a good pool supply company near you. Once the pools down here are balanced it mostly daily / weekly maintenance. Also have your pool person go over on how to change the filter and what to do so you don’t get air lock and hurt the pump.

Look for those skimmer socks for the basket on Amazon, helps a lot with capturing hair, and sunscreen it before the filter. Costco has a commercial size container of pool chlorine tablets, I go always has a tablet in the floater, I use one week, sometime two depending on pool parties and family who don’t know how to apply sunscreen and wait for it to dry and then go into the pool, family feels apply and then jump in which it washed off.

Rule of thumb down here is 1 hour run per hour of day light. I don’t follow that as much, but I run it early in the morning 5-8am, then I have it turn on 11-5pm . More than enough time to turn the water, no issues at all.

After the hurricane and no power for 5 days the pool was looking cloudy and a slight geeen hue, once power came back on Sunday, I ran 2 chlorine tablets in the floater, ran the pump for 24hrs as that cleared the pool, i ran the vacuum for the debris at the bottom, cleaned the pump cartridge and no issues at all. Added zero chemicals and all the levels were good to go.

Yeah, sucks we still have algae growing on the bottom of the pool. They were out yesterday and dumped two bags of salt in and scrubbed the pool. It might just take time to get back to normal because we didn't do any pool maintenance during the hurricane week or the week prior. Now they will be coming weekly, so it should always be swimmable. We're hoping to start using the hot tub portion on these cooler nights. It'll be nice to relax once the kids are down and we can have some adult quiet time.

Drained mine with this pump the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend. Put a quick disconnect cause I’m lazy and want them on everything. Lol.

Might want to get a larger hose for this for next season so it’s not taking 5 hours to drain 2k gallons.

yeah that larger fitting will fit a standard sump pump discharge hose and drain it 6-8* faster...

Probably need to get 2 since I noticed my sump pump hose from the house is cracked and most likely draining into the flower bed next to the house. :roflpicard:
