Have a PTO day today. Took my kid out on a bike ride. We’ll the chain on my dirt jumper decided to just give up on me and I took a spectacular header over the handlebars. My 4 year old was a trooper though. He held the flap of skin on my hand while I cut it off with an exacto knife.

There are two dealerships left I'm waiting to hear back from, but odds are I'm going to have to order a replacement. Not sure if the other woman's insurance is going to pay for my rental for the 3 months it will take for it to be built, but we will see.

Yea nobody will pay 3 mos for a vehicle that’s totaled

Got news last Friday that my dad was rushed from his assisted living facility to the ER for shortness of breath. Turns out he had a collapsed lung filled with fluid. He has memory issues so I am his POA and I authorized a bronchoscopy to drain the fluid. Turns out his cancer that he was clear of about 10 months ago came back and completely filled his lung. The doctor was very forward in telling me that there was no procedure they could do and this was a terminal condition. So by Monday he was already so weak that he was unable to talk or even communicate through hand squeezes. We took him to a hospice facility (a place in barrington called “journey” which was AMAZING) and my sister stayed with him the whole time until today. I slept there Monday night but came home Tuesday and Wednesday nights. He finally passed this morning at 6:51am. It was very sudden and very difficult to see but the nurses at the place were absolute angels and we are so happy he got to go to such a special place.

Here’s some words I wrote for him on his Facebook page. It’s hard to summarize a person in so few words but since this was more for friends and old coworkers I figured it was appropriate

It is with great sorrow that we share that Jerry passed away on 12/16/21 due to complications related to his cancer. Jerry passed peacefully surrounded by his children. For everybody that remembers Jerry, know that until the very end he was still cracking jokes and being stubborn. But also know that even though he was sometimes a pain in the ass he really cared for all of you. Clearing out his house we found notebooks full of peoples names and birthdates. He really got a kick out of remembering everybody’s birthday, especially fellow Allstate employees. If you were a coworker of his, please know that he really loved every one of you and told us many stories about the times you shared. He also loved his family very much. Attending family reunions was one thing he was always really excited about and every family member knows of his encyclopedic knowledge of the extended family tree. That knowledge will be greatly missed. His greatest joy lately was his granddaughter Mila. He loved her so much and it really made his day when she visited her “Grand-dude”. To everybody who contacted us and gave condolences we thank you very much, it is helping us get though this very difficult time. I wish we could give a better thank you but for now just know it was very appreciated.

To remember Jerry just remember these things: Go Cubs!, Baseball is life everything else is just a game, And “Go Go Go little Queenie”

so yea, fuck- I lost my dad today and it sucks

On the way home, car started feeling squirrely. Was only about 2 miles from home so I just risked the drive. Got out of the car to look for the dead tire. Driver Rear. Like freaking 4 PSI on the gauge.

Got home. Think the rim is okay. Tire is obviously fucked.

loaded the dishwasher last night and started it, like normal. Purchased new on Black Friday 2020, delivered in Feb of this year.

About 2 hours into the wash/dry, house started to smell bad. We opened the dishwasher and there's plastic at the bottom that's near the heating element, yeah, it's all melted.

GE Appliances. We had GE in our last house and we did have an issue with the Fridge (loud compressor) and the Dishwasher (It leaked I believe after 3-4 months) on those, I reminded the wife about that when we ordered these. So far, we've had issues with the Fridge (fan broke and caused us to loose a fridge full of food this spring) and now the dishwasher on this 2nd round of GE appliances.

I have a LG refrigerator and I've lost a fridge full of food 3 times. Luckily I had the extended warranty and got reimbursed $300 per occurance but it was always a pain in the ass to deal with. First time to get the fridge repaired took about a month or longer. Second time was much quicker, and the 3rd time took a few weeks. Sent all my paperwork for the class action that's being settled and just awaiting word back as to how little my check will be.

Losing food sucks did it the day everyone made a run on the stores due to 15 days to flatten the curve.

Almost did it again a few months later with 5 days power loss in May. Bought a genny fuck that.

I had to borrow a mini fridge in the meantime to have some stuff for my kids to eat. Luckily my wife and I have 2 deep freezers in the garage full of food as well. So it's not like we were completely out of food. Just sucks having to deal with it and not knowing how long it would take to get the fridge fixed.

we have the extended warranty, we got $300 back and it was a pain in the ass (Home Depot). They kept telling us the check was mailed out after jumping through hoops for them for weeks. Took forever to get that check.

We bought a mini fridge that previous owner of the house had a spot for in the garage cabinets and that was fun running out to the garage everytime we wanted a drink or food.

I just took the mini fridge inside and layed it in the dining room. Sucked bending down to floor level just to grab some milk or something. As for the warranty, I didn't have much of a problem besides that they didn't want to pay out until the fridge was fixed first. It was the extended warranty through home depot as well. So having to deal with that 3 times was a pain. But I will continue to get the extended warranty because otherwise I'd have been screwed.

After 17+ years, way more money in go fast parts with no labor than the purchase price, and a few pints of blood I actually sold the Marauder yesterday. Still doesn’t feel real? Since ‘04 I’ve always laughed and said “sure it’s for sale”, well someone finally called my bluff…

Besides the obnoxious constant detailing she’ll be sorely missed. I spent over a third of my life in that car! I obviously had no clue of it’s future self, what it would be capable of, the crazy things I would teach myself in fabrication, beyond fun times/memories, and most of all, the life long friends I’ve made along the way when I picked her up in late ‘04!! My third child who was only 2 months old is now into her second year of driving on her 2nd car.

It served me “almost” flawlessly over the years as it transitioned from a much needed family of five car in the beginning, to a great second car, to a well sorted street car, and finally to an all out nasty bitch that was in such a hurry to kill she’d eat her own ass if you weren’t careful LOL. I’ve never in my life experienced something so solid, so capable, and so safe. And I would never expect anything else to keep up to her standards, truly incredible.

But the time was right and considering it’s this late in the year the money was fair. The poor guy had to fly in, hotel, gas, and now probably trapped at his hotel for a day thanks to the weather seemed to be a very caring and very excited new owner who’s not a newbie to power and already has an older modded SHO as a stable mate to this one. Sucks he couldn’t experience it’s potential until spring time but I peddled her enough to make him pucker his brown eye enough to where he now knows to not try this himself until summer. [emoji16]

But now I finally have room to expand my bucket list. Too many damn good deals have come my way over the years that I had to pass up. Never really about the money so much as the space, although the money certainly helps. No plans, we’ll just see what finds it’s way to me as I know better than to actively look. That’s when I get screwed. Every. Single. Time.

Sorry for the long rant, but this was extremely harder on me than I imagined. [emoji17]

I have 2 cars down (blown engine/starter) and borrowed a Genesis from a buddy. The car is FILTHY. Great car with low miles but it hasn't been washed in months. First thing I did was wash it and it looks 100% better. Now, if he would listen to me and take the deteriorating plastic coating off the front and mirrors the car would instantly increase in value. Maybe I should have left it alone and let him get disgusted with it so he sells it to me cheap?

LOL. At least what I make is from my job, not my wife's. ? J/K

My buddy and I help each other. I'm waiting for payment from him for a months long, extremely difficult real estate deal I worked for him for way less than the going rate. He's happy to loan me a car while I have 2 broken during the holidays.

As far as being broke, my house is paid for. My cars are paid for. I have no credit card debt. If that's broke, I can live with it.

Point being, if you have a nice car, wash it once in a while. I can't stand seeing nice cars covered with muck. His sensors weren't even working since they were coated with grime. All fixed now. I'm tempted to wax the car tomorrow to really blow his mind.
