Nashotah, Wisconsin (AKA not Illinois)
2005 LLY 256k miles.

Customer called, said a shop quoted him $3500 to change his high pressure pump.

We said well if it is that we charge $1800, but we will NOT change the part unless we diagnose it.

Within 30 mins I find low rail pressure, about 9000psi out of 24000.

Another 15 mins and I have a confirmed failure of the pressure relief valve. It's relieving too early causing rail psi drop.

Install new valve. All fixed.

Now I'm just changing the regulator cause it had a slight surge at idle.

Pump is good. 24k psi all day long.

Hell be outta here for less than $1200.

I did find a wasted turbo so maybe that at a later date.

WTF did his air filter look like with a turbo chewed up like that? Maybe alky injection at the inlet but it looks too nasty for that.

I used the same stuff from fleet guard. Seemed to work pretty well. Some of the old boys swear by cascade liquid detergent but I didn’t have any on hand
Yea no, it just suds up... 3-4 flushes with 2610 and waters running clear.

For rusty systems I use Ford VC9, it's caustic and will clog oil coolers though.

On of the projects I’ve wanted to do since moving in this house last spring was to make the bar area a little more cozy. Since we’ve started making the basement into what I envisioned (home theater and bar/game room) time to work on the bar area.

picked up these shiplap accent wood panels, let them acclimate for about a week and started installing them today.
