Dogs aren't cheap. The pandemic drove up prices significantly. Our first dog was about 1/5 the price of what we paid for our puppy.
Oh I know, I have been looking at Cane Corso's and they are $5k-$7k from a reputable breeder with some health guarantees.
Yea it's pretty upsetting. Also breeding them to make money off of them is pretty petty and disgusting too.

It's one thing if you are a legit breeder who is carrying on the blood line and you are doing everything step by step @110%, but that's almost never the case.
I'll never understand the "fashion" dog craze, specifically the smaller dogs. Little yappy rats. And people spends double digit thousands of dollars on them.

Mean while the wyfe just got back from a shelter where there are so many dogs they have multiple in kennels at a time and some are so terrified they won't eat and get attacked and every morning staff is dragging another dead dog out cause it got attacked.
Don't understand that, and also don't understand the blue collar guys that insist on having the toughest looking purebred 120 lb corso or rott then want to breed it. Like....it doesn't make you cool dude.

Lady I bought my Boxer from years ago and I might by another from her. She makes you sign a no breeding rights contract. If she finds out you bred a dog that you purchased from her, she will sue the fuck out of you lol.
Both of my dogs cost me a collective ~$650 from pounds.

I'm a blue collar dude and I insist on big bad ass pure bred dogs. I dont do it to look cool at all, thats the type of dogs myself and my family enjoy.
We arent a small dog family if that makes sense. If I'm spending hard earned money on a dog, I'm buying what we want. I dont hate small dogs, they just aint for me/us.
The same thing your saying about tough looking dogs. I could probably make the same argument on how some wealthy people go buy these little fucking designer dogs that cost more than bigger dogs. Just so they can carry around in their purse and be the talk of the town.
I'm not taking shots, just saying that I see that A LOT by me. Dudes walk around the square with their giant fucking dog, white oakleys, bragging about how much they spent on the dog and talk about breeding them. I can think of toooo many people that fit that bill.

It’s actually pretty sad i don’t believe in that either. By girls bust out sister bought a mini golden doodle after we got our pitbull. And sure as shit not even a year in she is breeding the dog to make money. She kept one of the pups to breed. Bitch lives in a small ass house I can’t imagine the smell in her house when she had all them dogs pissing and pooping in her house. All too split the money with the other male dog owner.

Ear cropping for vanity is on that list. Like my cousin, bought this shit breed dog from some scumbag back yard breeder, medical and behavior issues up the ass, then spend hundreds for ear cropping just to make the dog look cool... Then give the dog up after they realize they couldn't handle it... Now that dog had a shit bag look to it and it looks mean now and probably won't be welcomed to a family home.
