So what has been a big delay is getting the rear drum clearance correct. There once was a large amount of snap rings you could buy from Mopar to get the right clearence, but that was over 20 years ago. So... Cutting down a stock one!

Trans is almost all together now. Just checking thrust clearances! Then it's sticking the VPN in and testing everything with air!

Someone seems to have access to real tools. That's a nice grinder.

I didn't realize this was still a 3 speed, I thought you were cannibalizing 4 speed parts for your car. Holeeeee fuck they seemed to have used these in Neons until 2001?! It has to be one of the last 3 speed autos in production at least in the US. I'm shocked they held out that long since little econoboxes would likely have been a great way to up CAFE.

I think they even used them in the 2.4L vans even later. But yeah, 3 speed with almost all of the 3 speed Neon guts in it. The 3 speeds I'm guessing were effeciant enough to get away with it, my Daytona would regulary get 34mpg. That's with a blown head gasket and a transmission in that state you saw it in.

Sorry for not updating, I got it all running on Saturday but about 30 mins after I started the car and was diagnosing a few things I started to feel sick. My wife has had the flu (not Rona) for the past week and like clockwork, I got it a work after she did. So been resting. I did record a video before I took a break though.

Hey all, I wanted to show off my new 3D printed design to adapt some of these Chinese made LED lights into my 1989 Daytona, it may work on other Mopars that use the same alignment bucket design as well.
It's a 10mm thick piece of plastic than can be printed on any Ender 3 sized printer within a few hours.

Here is a video demonstrating the lights and how to install them:

Here is the download link with information on how to print it:

Here is the Tinkercad link if you would like to modify the design:

Awesome, it's cool starting to see some 3D print items showing up in builds. You got her driving and running around yet?

Yup! Only issue I have is.

1. The trans oil pan is weeping. Not very fast, but over the course of two weeks there's a small puddle of ATF.
2. The torque converter seems to be draining back into the pan after about a day, idk if that's normal for these trans or not.

I missed you. running yet?
Just need to drive it now actually! It's been wicked cold here so waiting for it to warm up before taking it around. I've got 95% of all the leaks figured out. The rest is just me needing to pull out the TIG welder and modify some of the cooling system. But for now I think it's good enough to do a proper motor and trans break in.
