also make an industry rather low on inventory even lower, right?

Im sure. Im betting though it would get a lot more people to look into ebikes instead of a regular bike though.

Prices for the components have been coming down so the prices of the bikes is following. Like that Batch one, those components a few years ago would have made that a 4k bike according to the guy on EBR.

It sounded like the only downsides to the Batch bike were the seat and grips were generic to keep costs down, and then there werent any integrated lights. Wonder if by the time you replace those items if you might be around 2500 and at that point could just jump to a different ebike... :dunno:

The Cross Connect looks really nice! Few more features than the Batch which might make the price increase worth it.

So fill me in, what did you like about it? Did it seem okay with the hub motor? I keep thinking it would be much nicer to have the center motor or whatever it's called, but for the riding I would do (trails around the forest preserve and to work) that I imagine a hub based motor would be fine.

Not a huge fan of the battery just on the tube like that and not integrated, but then again thats just adding to the cost.

Any input on the fat tire design? I dont think I would have any use for it but am not 100% on that.

how big of a turd is this thing you guys who know or is it decent enough for me to sock away in my garage after using it three times?

Bolton bikes makes a plug and play controller upgrade which does wonders on those rad bikes. You could also upgrade the bike to have a true 750w bafang motor which combined with the controller is a pretty significant upgrade. However, just with the controller alone you would be pretty mind blown, you'd definintely ride it at least 20 times before storing it away in the garage for a few years.

I have almost 2,000 miles on my EMike ebike so far this year, I love riding that thing to work.

South of Wisconsin.
Kinda the thought about an electric bike myself. I’ve been riding my old ass baby blue Schwin Suburban to Myers and Home Depot and downtown McHenry. Lugged some heavy shit back too. Couple bags of topsoil, garden hose, bottles of Dr Pepper and groceries. Lol. Electric assist would be nice on the way back since it’s mostly uphill going back.

so basically my boss got asked to offload this thing for a friend of a friend which sometimes happens and i don't mind... whatever. it's always good shit. i post a craigslist ad and it's gone in a week or two.
so they said it was broke/didn't work etc. they just weren't turning it on properly. so i took it for a test ride.
i have no idea about anything about any of these past me just figuring out how to turn it on yesterday and how to ride it.
i liked how intuitive it felt. there are five modes for riding, one feels like it's barely helping you then up to five where it feels crazy to pedal and have it assist... or you can just ride it like a straight up dirtbike and throttle on the thumb/twist only.
i have literally 0 things to compare it to other than a legit gas powered scooter or a fucking bicycle.

i really think it'd just be another fun activity for my daughter and i to be outside... toss her in a baby seat and just mow down miles on a bike path/around town whatever.

i think a HUGE benefit of these would be a lot of BLM property out west that has been shut down to motorized vehicles but still allows bicycles/walking/horses... like fuck i could go so much further, silently.

this is also the first fat tire anything ive ever ridden... i aired them up to 28lbs cuz it says max 30 and it's not like im thrashing it on a beach or in 3' of snow sooo i figured that made sense. a lot of shooting from the hip here.

looks like a case by case situation

E-BIKES ON BLM-MANAGED PUBLIC LANDS
The public lands should be accessible to as many Americans as possible, including people who use e-bikes. E-bikes help make public lands more accessible to more people. An e-bike is a bicycle with a small electric motor of not more than 750 watts (one horsepower) which assists in the operation of the bicycle and reduces the physical exertion demands on the rider. E-bikes may have two or three wheels and must have fully operable pedals.

BLM-managed public lands offer many opportunities for riding e-bikes, including any area or trail where OHVs are currently allowed. BLM offices also have the authority to identify which non-motorized trails could be used for e-bike use on BLM-managed lands. BLM District and Field Managers are encouraged to consider authorizing e-bike use in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including the e-bike rule.

To stay up-to-date with the latest e-bike information as it becomes available on BLM-managed public lands, contact your local BLM office, or search blm.gov/visit.
