So this is just for road trips and towing when needed right? It's not a DD right?

Any issues with diesels when they sit for extended times?

Full disclosure, I know zero about them, just that you can tow much better easier them (if thats even true)....

right now escalade is DD. excursion im going to get my garage cleared out and back it in.

excursion had sat since october 2020 when i bought it and i hopped in, idled it out of the garage, let it idle for about 15 minutes while crawling over it, called DEEZUZ DEEZUZ frantically, drove around a neighborhood, went back, made the deal, drove to jimmy johns and then ram-rodded it home 3 and a half hours at 85 mph.

as for sitting for extended time ... DEEZUZ DEEZUZ paragraphs please.

towing-wise.

id 100% rather tow anything i can think of with my last 6.2 gas racetruck or my 2013 poverty one ton 6.0gasser than this excursion right now stock.

my boss has a boat i towed with my blue truck and with our work 7.3 that has whatever done to it, and i'd 100% rather have been in my 6.2 truck without a doubt.

7.3's, cummins, older diesels, imo, have the "nostalgia effect" ill call it where boners swear it's the greatest thing evarrrr and it's like old SBC 350 guys.

it's a great engine, reliable enough with help from your friends ( DEEZUZ DEEZUZ when can it show up at the compound btw?) but a newer 6.7 alumiduty powerstroke is going to be fucking night and day better for towing much of anything.

when DEEZUZ DEEZUZ and Outlaw Outlaw said that this thing is slow, like it's fucking slow  my 123hp awd pontiac vibe would likely dust it.

the biggest thing here is what i wanted is tricky enough as it is to find "right"

i wouldn't touch a half ton 2007+ active fuel management suburban or yukon with your dick, i wouldn't even consider a gasser excursion for what im doing with it, 2000-2006 burbs and yukons are impossible to find clean nowadays it seems, people want a million dollars for 2007+ 3/4 ton burbans and yukons and ford hasn't made a large suv like this worth a dick, since like, this thing  fiteme.

I was just thinking about if I do ever go the route of toyhauler and SxS combo, would it be worthwhile to go iesel to pull it 5x a year or so, or just go gasser and save the headache.....

depends on weight and how much you care about mileage.

there's a lot of really really good gasser engines nowadays.

but don't you fucking dare post this on a camper or a diesel forum you'll get ridiculed out of there

i got 16.5 mpg going each direction. 44 gallon tank is fucking AAAAMAZING.

16.5*44 = 726 miles which is crazy to think about... but even on the safer side... 500 miles still leaves 14 gallons of fuel so i can make it REALLY far really easily.

going each way was some stop and go interstate traffic, bouncing off the 92? mph speed limiter a few times? cruise set at 78-83 typically. it's crazy how much quieter the engine gets above 70mph or so.

it rides like a couch and just mow's down roads. i fucking love it. it's slow as fuck right now but whatever.

Just think how far ahead you are of the guy in the Tesla who has to stop every ~250 miles for 3 hours and not having to playing tourist while the battery recharges...

so what's really nuts to think about i just realized this from another thread..

excursion going to ky = $3.19 per gallon @ 16.5 mpg = 19.3 cents per mile.

my sierra "needed" premium, and i always put it in it, and would have continued had i kept it...

so right now diesel is $3.28 per gallon at meijer where i'd get gas or fuel typically... $3.88 for premium.

16.5 mpg in the excursion. i think i typically got like 19ish in the sierra (but had to stop because baby dick fucking 26 gallon tank bullshit)

that comes out to... 20.4 cents per mile...

It does annoy me when I find a clean 12v and someone mentions that it could pull a house.

Well, maybe....but anything made in the last 15 years will pull circles around it with the house hooked up.

holy fuck man isn't that the truth. my buddy had a 12v mini dump truck that i borrowed to take shit to the dump one time, and sweet fuck i dont think it would have hit 72 mph down hill with the wind at it's back. fucking thing was scaaaaary slow

it's also like in your one thread where you said you love your v10 truck's OOOMPH outta the hole... it's just different. i drove my escalade today for the first time in two weeks and it feels like a sports car compared to the excursion
