How could they put these garbage MT82's in. It's well documented they suck....and yet from 2015 until today they still use them. SMH. The MT82 is the main reason I went auto on my car, I didn't want to deal with that shit.
You must've never had a T-5, T45, or 3650 before. The MT82 is leaps and bounds above any of that shit, not to mention that Jeff's making double the factory HP, so what factory high production manual will hold up to that abuse?

The MT82 suffers a bad rap because the stock shifter and clutch are the weak links that most internet warriors can't afford to upgrade before they try their 7,500 RPM no lift shifts. Mine has 53k miles on it and dozens of runs at the strip with low 1.5x 60' times and still shifts like buttah. I must be the outlier :s00ls:

Sorry for the derail Jeff, carry on.

I had the 3650 in my 09 GT and I beat the hell out of it. In fact, I bough the car brand new and drove on the stock clutch until I sold it with 60K miles. I will agree that these are not guaranteed to grenade every time but I feel like I have never heard of a trans being worse than the MT82.

So, what we're both basically saying is that the transmissions Ford uses are essentially garbage and you either get lucky or you don't, LMAO!!!!
Not exactly... I wasn't making 800+ wheel on any of those shitbox transmissions, more like 270-350 wheel depending on if I was on the bottle or not. You can make 800 wheel on an MT82 for a looooong time if you take care of it and do the supporting mods.

So you guys realize that jeffs car make 850+ hp and has had it out at the track and plenty of pulls on the street... we are talking about a stock trans that was never intended for this lol
I totally understand that but guys are supposedly sometimes blowing these things up at stock power levels.....but then again this is the internet so who actually knows.

Alot of the guys that blow them up for 1 of 2 reasons either they are at the track beating the death out of them or they "think" they know how to drive a stick but really don't lol

I honestly love my mt82. The thing shifted amazing at 8k rpm and even beat it at the track and it was awesome until just this year. I dont have many miles on it, but at 885rwhp, I am in no way shocked or upset that I grenaded a gear.

Honestly, I like the way an mt82 feels over a T56. The only T56 cars I've driven were F body and C5 vettes so maybe they're better now, but my MT82 was smoother than any T56 I've ever driven...

Hoping this Calimer trans shifts just as nice as the stock unit.

I don't understand the MT82 hate. My 12 GT shifted great up top once you remove that dumbass support spring from the pedal (might been an "early year" thing) along with a MGW shifter. Stock shifter was fine, just sloppy. It was also super smooth daily driving 80-100mi a day on 59 in stop and go traffic.

Meanwhile, people bitch about forks and synchros all day with the T56.

I did a T56 swap in my buddies 2013 GT because he heard all the MT82 hate, and that thing is notchy AF. No way I could power shift it like I do on my MT82. It also doesn't like shifting above 7k even with an RST in it. I can bang shift mt MT82 at 8k all day long with no grinding or any other issues and I'm not running some fancy clutch either, just a lowly Mcleod stage II single disk with the stock flywheel, a braided clutch line, whiteline mount, and Barton 3 trans mounted shifter. I did do the Calimer cocktail though which really helps smooth out the shifts, especially when it's cold.

I've done a hand full of T56 swaps, 1 6060, and a lot of Calimer MT82's. I still prefer the MT82, but the stage 3 does get a bit notchy and tends to whine. Thankfully my car has the Tremec 3160, thing has been butter and I beat on the car non stop. I think ford has a 3160 swap type kit, or maybe can find a pull out unit.

This thing is right down Golf, I drive by it everyday. I had no idea it was $95K! It always sits outside. They also have a Widebody Challenger and a GT350 as well.
