If the Bears were going to take a QB, I'm a lot happier they waited until Fields dropped to 11. Trading a couple/few 1st round picks+ other picks to move up to 5/6 and take him would have been a lot worse. Fields has a chance to be the best QB the Bears have had in forever. Let's see what they do to build around him in the rest of the draft. Giving up 2 picks next year is big compared to all the picks being this year plus next year's 1st.

If Fields isn't the real deal, the Bears only gave up 1 year's picks. I was worried they would sell the farm.

So after thinking about this last night and some more this morning and listening to sports radio this morning. I'm not as pissed as last night and hoping it works out. I just have no faith at all in management. I still think they gave up to much for him as either him or Jones would have been there around 15-17. Probably could have traded less to get to 15-17. I personally preferred Mac Jones if they were trading up, but we will see how both pan out. Gotta also remember we gave up Fuller in order to have money for Dalton. So I'm considering him as a casualty in this draft as well. I'm really hoping they can get a solid offensive lineman, preferable a tackle in the 2nd. I would really like to see Fields sit for a year and learn from Dalton.

Fields just brings me hope. Jaguars and Jets are gonna F up their QBs. Niners and Pats will develop their QB. Bears? Letā€™s hope Nagy can develop him. I have a renewed hope this kid has enough talent to become a legit QB. Not looking for a first ballot HOF, just a legit QB.
Hoping Nagy can develop him is key. I'm afraid he is not going to taylor his offense around Field's strengths. Thats what he needs to 100% do if this kid is going to have any chance of being successful.

Think about it, guys. Bears addressed both their top needs and did so without selling the farm for the next 3 years. Fields could turn out to be the best Bears QB in our lifetimes. Jenkins was projected to go top 20. Can't do much better than that. Bears gave up picks but got a hell of a lot in return. Andy Dalton is now a place holder until Fields steps in. Bears right OT spot is set for a decade. Teven Jenkins may take over LT in a year once the cap lets the Bears get rid of Leno.

That they did that is the only real positive I take away from this. I want this to work as I'm tired of groundhog day constantly. But I feel like this is rinse, lather, repeat,

Fields is a hell of a lot better than Trubisky. He's accurate. He has one hell of an arm. He can run quickly. Everything Trubisky was supposed to be but wasn't. Add Teven Jenkins for protection and this draft is a win.

The knock on Fields was he went to read one. Read one was open for him. He can cycle through the reads if necessary. Plus he's damned quick and not afraid to run. Trubisky was afraid to do anything.

I'm not knocking the kid.

But we've been through this. We made the trade for Cutler. All Bears fans went nuts (I did!). Cutler didn't get the job done. The fiasco with Tricky-biscuits, we traded the house to get him. Look what happened. And now here we are with FIelds. I hope the 3rd time is a charm. But I'll hold my breath...

I agree. There are no guarantees on Field's career. I do like the fact the Bears saw the opportunity and went up for the guy that many analysts said was the 2nd best QB in the draft. Hopefully he works out and the Bears, for once, have a good QB.

If Rodgers pushes for a trade, Bears could have the best QB in the NFC North. No guarantees but it is a possibility. I do think Fields is better than Goff, Cousins or Love. He's a hell of a lot more mobile than Goff or Cousins. Love is still unproven.

Fingers crossed that Rodgers continues to be the dick he is and forces a trade.

The biggest knock on Fields is piss poor work ethic. Can get away with that shit in college, but not in the NFL.

Iā€™m happy with our 2nd rd pick. Kid is a fucking animal and is nasty as they come. I was hoping we drafted him in the 1st if we stayed put.

I read that about his ethic too. I think itā€™s BS. Super high GPA and he scored the highest ever on a new aptitude test they are giving athletes. Higher than Mahomes. Kid just balls out. We might have just gotten lucky like when Derick Rose came to the bulls.

Being smart and being lazy are 2 different things lol. I really hope he is the real deal and we finally have a QB throw for 4000 yards and make us a respected offense. lol

Anytime you think about lazy, you just need to think about JaMarcus Russell when the Raiders drafted him.... The epitome of lazy, but made a fortune off his arm talent coming out of school.

There was one time that they didnt think he was doing his work, so they gave him a blank VHS tape and asked him to watch it because it was the defensive schemes for the next week... He said he watched it and knew everything the defense was planning.

Lazy.
