Illinois dealership (No surprise there:rolleyes:) tries to markup a new Mach-E by $10k and not even let someone test drive it and Ford gets involved.

Interesting development in my opinion. It might be hard to talk about here since we have dealership people on the site. But one of the big advantages for Tesla is the lack of the dealership model.
This was huge for me and believing that Ford wants to take on Tesla directly.

Well, to be fair,

If everyone was as up front and easy to deal with as John, then dealerships wouldn't have nearly the rep they do. And while I'm knowleible enough and savvy enough to not get taken advantage of, I've watched my family members get absolutely destroyed on a car 'deal' and come out feeling like they won the lottery.

You can’t buy wheels for $150 anymore! Any decent wheel these days is $400 ea.
Update that thread I wanna see your baller wheels!
I was pretty happy with my Sport Edition P4's for my winter tire set on my RS. $104/ea. And thanks to assholes trying for an insurance payout I found out you can nail a curb at 30mph and while the rim was fucked, it still held air.

So for a $104 rim I'm impressed.

I like the way they look for $104. Maybe wouldn't like it for $400/rim. But they are a light 18" 5 spoke that looks decent enough.

Agreed. But I think we can also all agree that is absolutely rare today. Lets just refer to John as a unicorn.

The all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E noted 6,614 sales during the first quarter of 2021, however, the monthly result of 2,637 in March was lower than in February. Mach-E stands for 1.3% of the total Ford sales in March (compared to 2.4% in February).

On the positive side, Ford said that "the fully electric Mustang Mach-E turning on dealer lots in just 7 days", which means that the demand is strong.

Moreover, nearly 70% of the Mach-E buyers are from competitive brands, a thing that always makes manufacturers happy.

Really long video but an in-depth look into road tripping a Mach-E. Quite a few issues with the car/charging network. I couldn’t see getting one over a Tesla right now.

I was going to post this as well. Jesus what. Nightmare. How is stuff like that not tested over and over again by Ford or electrify America ?

The “handshake” process takes maybe 5 seconds in my car and boom ur off to the races. A full minute on the Ford only for it to fail multiple times?

I couldn’t imagine on a road trip having to baby sit the car, having it fail 5-6 times a charging session, slow speeds etc.

This is the shit I’m talking about when I say they are not competition. The car looks ok, the interior looks refined..... but this shit? F that.

He is pretty unbiased in his reviews if you ever have some time to spare and want to skip through some of his longer trips. He even says in this video he’s trying to promote non Tesla EVs. He even set the cannonball EV record in the Porsche. But the charging issues these cars are having makes it really hard to say there is really any other option but a tesla

If that’s the case until major software updates happen all of these cars are ruined.

Also I am not sure all of the issues are electrify America. The cars also have to talk to the chargers etc. I saw some great charging sessions with the Ford as well as the Porsche... but those were few and far between. Most were horrible.

This stuff needs to be seemlees. These are not the types of problems I was expecting them to have. Not when a competitors greatest advantage Over you is an easy and great charging network

I would say the thing about tesla that is a 100% fact that cannot be argued is that the supercharger network is the easiest to use (just plug it in) and that it really does charge as fast as advertised.

This is my problem looking for my next vehicle. I’d love a cybertruck but I fear that it won’t fit in my garage. Another strong contender is the rivian R1S SUV but I fear the charging network

Not only that but in the car I can see how many chargers are available, if some are offline, if a station is closed etc.

Also simple things like seeing how fast of a charge you are getting in the car, the time it takes to get to full, 80% etc. in the mustang you have to keep walking back up to the electrify America screen. Why? Simple stuff like this makes me scratch my head.

Yeah I’ve watched a lot of his road trip videos which is what blew me away with how frustrating the Mach E road trip was compared to the Tesla road trips.

Yea he was really trying to love the car, but what a major fail. Once I saw this video it really shows you how good we Tesla owners have it right now.

I could jump in my car and drive to California right now without a single issue. The Ford? I’d prob be stranded somewhere or arrive in 15 days because their charging is stupid.
