I would not be afraid of the 04 with the high mileage to get that kind of mileage requires mostly Highway which is predominantly 3rd and 4th gear.

The average miles cars that you got to be worried about. They very likely deal with stop and go whole lot more. Short trips where the engine/trans fluid, much less the cat never gets up to operating temp.

My years as a mechanic have taught me that I weigh miles are way better then stop and go miles. So searching for a high mile car is actually a good thing in many ways

Also I don't think there are any real platform differences between the LeSabre and Park Avenue. The LeSabre basically gets the old Parts bins stuff and the Cavaliers style electrical system. I believe they do still have a BCM however it does not do nearly as many functions as the more sophisticated computer in the Park Avenues

I love high mileage one owner stuff...

My 05 Yukon has 292,000 and the 08 Sierra has 325,000 lol.

It drives great. It really does. He’s looking into the heated seat right now.

ignore it, the 98 doesnt have heated seats and the digital climate control in auto goes to floor, the lazyboy drivers seat isnt cold when i get in it, even if it is cold, the leather and 14inches of foam and love warm right up, its these new polyurethane foam buggers that are like sitting on cold plastic, hence the seat warmers in everything

I would make sure you get it for under $2k. It's pretty clean, and some of the 4t65e's last over 400k miles. But, you can expect to spend $1500-$2000 on a rebuild if you have a shop do it all. You could do it yourself for $700-$900 if you wanted to do that.

I’m definitely not rebuilding a trans on my own lol. I can R&R it but that’s voodoo magic in there.

Didn’t hear anything from the guy today. That ones not off the table yet but I definitely want to drive the car again for 15-20 miles to really feel the trans out.

There’s been a few nice Regals and LeSabres posted in the past couple days by “dealers” down around Country Club Hills / Chicago Heights. I gotta find someone with a dealers license and just go hit up Mannheim and snag one. I know they’re all coming out of Greater down in Tinley.

for the purpose the drivability diagnostics with the trans....

to eliminate tcc as a possible issue (as 2nd gear tcc lockup (which never actually locks jup, always slips 50-100rpm for NVH reasons (people dont like the feels)

while driving and running it up through the gears use yer left foot to hit the brake pedal just enough to trigger the brake lights and kick it out of tcc usage without actually dragging the brakes

a soft 2-3 might actually be tcc lockup before it goes into 3rd, etc.

drive it normal, then repeat with tcc disabled via pedal trigger and then youll feel the actual gearshifts
