Just got back from looking at the car. It was clean rust wise (Arkansas car) but overall kinda beat up. Drove fine but I did perform one of the tests on the trans where you essentially take off from a stop sign making a turn and see if it clunks/slips which it did. Decided to walk away.

The search continues...

Yaj Yak Yaj Yak when you had your 3500 Sierra did you ever do any research into aftermarket fuel tanks? I’m sure this truck needs a tune up and the intake gaskets are probably hurting some, but, I can’t even get 400 miles out of a tank of fuel most times. Averaging 11.5-12 hand calculated for the past 5-6 tanks. Mileage is what it is, but my gas light comes on and it takes roughly 30 gallons. Would like to figure out how bump that up.

i dont think i did look into it... issue for you is the cost might outweigh the benefits especially with how quickly you go through vehicles.

on my "almost" 35's with my speedometer corrected for the bigger tires, i got 12-14 pretty typically hand calculated & dic. 36 gallon tank iirc. i had 4.10 gears

Yeah I don’t think a $1,300 titan tank would be in my figure. I know on the older trucks I’ve seen people take the rear tank that went above the spare on the SUV’s and make them work for an additional 8 gallons.

As far as the MPG’s go, I think I’ll be close to that 12-14 number with a tune up and the intake gaskets fixed. I’m in the 12’s now.

See that’s where I do think I’m falling short on mileage. I have brand new stock size Transforce AT2’s which are nothing to write home about as far as an “aggressive” tire.

My 6.2 6-speed auto F-250 at least saw 13.5ish pretty consistently... I was hoping for the same out of this truck.

I’m going to do all the generic tune-up shit to this one along with a new MAF and o2’s. When I bought it it had a MAF code which went away after I cleaned it, but it still hesitates a bit. OE MAF on RockAuto is like $45 so it’s worth a shot.

At the end of the day the trucks got a bunch of miles on it so I wouldn’t be surprised if things are a bit tired.

Sooooooo I bought the Duramax brother to my Silverado today lol.

2013 Silverado 2500HD. LML Duramax. Truck is stupid clean. Mid 200k mile range.

Tempted to swap my topper and wheels/tires over but then again I bought a gas truck to get away from modern diesel BS in the first place lol. Decisions decisions...

I’m also sad because these were the last of the KS Energy trucks in today’s auction. Lots of variety in their fleet and very well taken care of. Looks like we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming of Super Duties and other random nonsense.

A quick tip to you since yer a diesel guy....

Get new sensors and set up your socket / wrench that you'll need to get at and loosen the sensors and then go for a 20-minute highway ride to get the exhaust all nice and hot before you go breaking them free. Way easier.
Don't forget the chip away or file down the rust around the perimeter of the O2 Bung as it may prevent the new sensor from seating and ceiling air tight

Thanks for the heads up James!

Also, have you ever heard of the alcohol content sensors reading way high in these flex fuel vehicles? Like 64% alcohol content... one would think that would be giving her a BIT too much sauce lol.

Picked up the Duramax today...

Flame suit on. I’m not a fan. It feels slow compared to my stock 6.7 PSD. Trans feels like a confused CVT until the converter locks.

IDK, I’m going to put like 1,000 miles on it before final judgment but as of now I’m just going to keep my gasser lol

The sensors output both a pwm and voltage output to both provide the temperature and the alcohol content of the fuel.
I've read some of the IATN posts that talk about the contacts probably getting dirty from sitting in lots and or Crap fuel.
I'm of the thought it probably more relates to the electrical connector fretting TSB where you end up with poor connections along the circuit path. Try disconnecting the sensor and reconnecting it as well as intermediate harness connectors using a chassis diagram.
With something like 7 miles of wiring nowadays it seems like a lot of the slightly odd issues I come across are that f****** terminal fretting problem
