By this time, there's no way you can order for a brand new 2020 Corvette C8 from a Chevy dealership. That has been pretty much set in stone. Even those that have been ordered before might not even be made because of the production difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you want to own the first mid-engine Corvette, your best option is to place an order for a 2021 model year, but that on itself poses another challenge – that's if you don't like waiting. This was disclosed by Chevy Dude (video embedded on top), possibly one of the most popular (and honest) Chevy sales agents right now.

According to Mike, the Chevy Dude, you will need to wait for 12 to 18 months if you order for a 2021 Corvette C8 today. That's because of the minimal production weeks left this year for the MY 2021 Vette, which Mike estimates to be at around six weeks, considering the three-week plant shutdown for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New year.

And that's if production for the 2021 Corvette starts by November 2, which Mike debunked on the video above. While this date has been around the rumor mill, the Chevy Dude said that GM is yet to announce a final confirmation.

Allocation is also an issue. So if the dealer got 10 for the 2020, they got the same for 2021. But because of all the delays and stuff let’s say they only got to deliver 2 2020’s. Now 8 of the 2021’s are already taken. So some people are gonna have to wait a long time.
Got to see my buddies last night, he just picked it up yesterday morning from the museum and drove it up here. It’s pretty awesome, but I also saw it at 9:30pm.

Every car I've ever known has both the latch that releases the hood from inside the cabin, in addition to a further safety latch which is a purely mechanical thing only accessible from outside the car.

So I'd like to know, the the owner forget to actually latch entirely, or did the latch malfunction and the safety latch plain fail to catch it.

Heck,

One of the things I used to do when I had the GTA at the drag strip was to pop the hood on the way back after picking up my time slip. Since it was all slow speed and the hood would open about a 2" gap, it allowed a ton of cool air into the engine bay on the way back to the staging lanes. When I got to the stage lanes I'd get out of the car, latch it back down, make my run and repeat.

I saw my first C8 today. It was a black one on a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck.
Future garage queen?

They look much better in person and the pictures don't do them justice.
I figured I'd be seeing more of these by now though.

iv's seen about 5 in person now. all riving the other way i'm going. Most of those on the highway when i was headed to MO. so most like on the way home from Museum pick up.
