Did you get the skr mini?
Yup. Skr mini v2 with the v3 touchscreen. I don't think the printer is that loud, but when seeing the video of it with the SKR board, I was sold. Crazy how just the board makes such a huge difference in sound, I would assume the motors would be needed to be replaced instead of just the board to make a difference. I also hear it can cut back on vibrations so you can run faster speeds without quality loss.

I want to be ready for bltouch and neopixels when I upgrade to those too (I have a roll of neopixels already). I have been debating setting up the neopixels on the pi, but it might be nice to have the printer be able to control them directly....less programming for me.

So this happened this morning....started printing, first couple layers good to go....

Check the camera an hour later and see that box...well it was the silicone that was on the hotend! :angrys00ls: Fell off...

Well before cancelling the print, I let it run to see what happens...well the printhead eventually moved and booted it right off the bed perfectly! Print finished successful

I can’t tell if that’s layer shift or if that’s the infill coming thru.
I think its retraction and temperature. I have been running some retraction test prints and got rid of a lot of stringing (that I cleaned up before posting) and those extrusion blobs with just a temperature change from 205-195. Once I get a good temperature, I am going to try to mess with retraction settings. I am also comparing 1 profile on cura vs 1 profile on prusaslicer to see the differences.
Left to right
Prusa 205, cura 205, cura 195 and prusa 195 is printing now.

different fillaments "shrink" differently when hot, long traverses can sometimes require more retraction prime as the volume of plastic in the chamber shrinks.

experiment with the coast feature, it takes time to figure out how far it'll still extrude till the chamber pressure drops anfter feed stops.

moving your z to a certain x,y can hide em inside the less visible area's. the auto hide feature for inside corners etc seem to be more random and noticible, try an actual x,y for the z layer start in the least important area of the build

on overhangs if your getting pushrough it may be that you have the floor thickness too thick for the wall thickness and the plastic during the floor infuill will seperate layers in a hernia like way. outter wall offset can help that

make sure you fella's are doing cold pulls every now and then to keep from getting occlusions from old fillament at tghe heatbreak junction area
Never done a cold pull but looks like I might be getting some nylon for just that purpose. I'm mainly going to be printing pla for now and seems like it's good for cleaning that out.

Dude, the upgraded board (skr v2) for the ender is insane. It's basically silent, it's so weird. The fans are the loudest part by far now. Literally plug and play because I don't have a bltouch. The touch screen is sooo much nicer too.

I also replaced the PSU fan with a 120mm fan  super quiet now when that cranks on.

Next is to print a new fan mod and go noctua. Then try to crank up the speed a bit and also try to get really long bridges without supports. I was looking at the bullseye.

I also built a dry box you see in the back ground for my filament. Much easier switching between colors now.

I think I may have a new addiction though  really want to get another printer lmao. The prusas look nice or the ender V2.

Nice! I don’t really have enough things to print to justify so many upgrades from where I am now. If it came down in price or something I’d probably jump on it though.

You can print out your own prusa FYI.

A full diy printer has also crossed my mind. Would be a neat project.

neat but a real pita

quite a disparity out there on the quality of the basic parts, just as in the auto world, saving money rarely ever saves you money

plenty of folks make their own, including 8ftx8ftx8ft machines using unistrut and sheetmetal
3d print an entire nose for your racecar.....

we aimed for something the size of the centerconsole/HVAC module for the 442
