Miles on it?

It has 102 on it.

Being a 14, it’s not supposed to be high risk of Cam phaser or plug issues (and it has new plugs).

The hitch clearly has never been used, and overall it’s in excellent shape so it hasn’t been worked ragged like a lot of them I’ve seen.

I suspect it needs new front rotors but I’m not going to drag the dealer over a barrel about it since upgrading the brakes on a tow vehicle is never a bad thing and it needs a piece of driver seat plastic trim that commonly breaks that’s all of like $90.

I’m going to order tow mirrors; a K+N intake since I like induction noise and the current intake has a million silencer tubes.

Also my vote is to drop it the 2” instead of lift it lol

I feel like a large trailer and lowering doesn’t make a ton of sense :p.

given the tires are new I’m likely to leave it alone until it has a suspension failure like shocks or a bearing when I have to pull stuff apart or when the tires are spent.

2” probably wouldn’t make a huge difference, I did 3” in the back and 2.5” in the front it actually worked out to around 3” in the front though due to a miscalculation 2wd vs 4wd weight, mine still rides stock though I rarely pull anything that weighs more than 4000lbs

Lower ftw. Bags will also help it level out with varying loads.

just curious, why this over a NNBS burb? Because :ford: ?

So 11-14 Burbs with Max Tow were most common on loaded LTZ’s, and most Dark colored trucks with the tow package and around 100k miles that I was finding either had rolled odometers or a past life as a limo or both or alternatively a $5000 premium over the Expedition.

An SUV just made the most sense with how we used the Suburban, so I backed down from the pickup idea, realistically it boiled down to a 13-14 Expedition, a 16-17 Expedition Limited (CPO because Ecoboost stigma), or a 11-14 Denali.

the Denalis have some transfer case concerns and again often served as Limos or had a huge price delta on the Expedition and I’d have no warranty either way nor any features over the Expedition minus just raw speed/power.

lastly, the 16 Suburbans/Yukon XLs are SUPER rare with tow package unless they are loaded up LTZ/Denalis which pushes them well into the 40s and out of my comfort zone for a truck without a warranty as most used ones are just outside of them. I did spot one that ticked all the boxes but it was a total stripper LS truck and a bad color interior.

Observations so far; it 'drives' no bigger than my GMT800 Suburban, and it generally feels more "Solid", granted its 11 years newer.

I missed having a V-8, even though it's rather quite it still just makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Throttle response is admittedly rather lazy, I'm going to look into getting an SCT and some kind of out of the box tune for it to sharpen that up.

I've already ordered a K+N to get a little more V-8 induction noise, Tow Mirrors so I can actually see around my camper, and new front pads and rotors since I'm 99% sure at least one front rotors has a warp to it, and if I'm slowing down 6 tons I'd like to be able to do so with authority.

Bug guard? What are you 60?

The rest :fy:

In all seriousness towing open highway for 3+ hours through farmland is bug city during certain seasons.

also; these trucks are known for paint flake on the hood lip from the aluminum hoods so it will prolong that/hide it and I don’t think it looks bad.

This. IDC what anybody says, a properly functioning bug deflector is a lifesaver if you do any sort of road tripping.

Congrats on the new rig! Hopefully it serves you and the family well and cuts the mustard when towing.
