The expo/navi, while selling better than the last gen, hasn't really made a dent in any of GM's full size SUV dominance. GM owns 75% - 80% of this market. And while looks of these T2's seem to be polarizing, the offering of three engine choices, three suspension choices, IRS, and interior specs that best the expo/navi (if you read the MT article), will only insure that GM's dominance continues and gains.

I've seen 5 new Expo's/Navi's today, but I've had to have seen 100+ K2's. It isn't even close.

I feel like the polarizing styling is going to turn away buyers., especially females who I see driving these vehicles.

The engine choices too also seem like a punt. Aren't the specs basically the same for the gas engines which are going to be the vast majority of what's sold?

The Escalade leaked too and it looks pretty much like a bigger CT6 which was lackluster. Caddy is in a really bad place.

Polarizing style is the IN thing and women love that sort of shit. My Wife liked it when I showed it to her.

The gas engines are the same. It ain't broke... What needed to be fixed? The addition of a diesel is the third. The ford counterpart offers 1 engine.

Isn't the Cadillac supposed to look like a Cadillac?? Not a Chevy! Original rumor was, for this generation that the Escalade was actually going to move OFF the truck platform to completely differentiate itself from it's lesser Chevy and GMC truck roots, and move it more upscale. That did not happen, but they are slowly trying to push it away.

it should be a problem that the CT6 is a wayyyyyy nicer and more luxurious vehicle than an Escalade, but it isn’t. My theory? People that want Escalades don’t really want a nice luxury vehicle, they want to be boujee.

It looks just like the renderings over the past year. It isn't bad at all.

You guys really think having a diesel is a big win for a mom-mobile? How?

Haven't you realized yet...nobody wants diesel headaches in their DD. Especially one that their wife will be driving.

The diesel engine will cost $3k+ more than the gasser and you'll never recoup that with fuel savings

This- nobody buys them. There was a Cruze diesel and a Colorado diesel and an equinox diesel and I see almost none of them- but the few I see are all fucked up from short trip driving. So they don’t sell well, but the few we do sell are piles of shit.

Yup, i didn't even get in to the fact that diesels suck in around-town vehicles (mom mobiles) that don't see many miles. Fuel gels, shutting off during a regen sucks, they cost more up front, you don't get that money back etc.

No fucking point putting a diesel in this thing. Anyone that thinks differently is stuck in 2005 when gas trucks got 15mpg highway and couldn't tow more than 7k, and their buddies friend's cousin with the POS diesel got "30mpg while towing two cars through the mountains"

Cousin's buddy had a diesel Cruze. It was neat, and got good mileage. I wasn't aware of any issues.

It's hard for people to get over the initial investment of the diesel, but, in theory, they should retain their value better than gassers. Aside from the aftertreatment, what other headaches are there?

Guy at my work has one with 70k and loves it. Puts on tons of miles and no major issues. Solid 50+ mpgs

What gets fucked up from short trip driving?
The induction systems get completely carboned up because it never gets a chance to run a regeneration. And by carboned up I dont mean “spray a few spritz of intake cleaner in there” I mean remove the EGR cooler and intake manifold and chisel out the carbon. Also all the DEF system either Leaks, pump fails, injectors fuck up, goes into limp mode..... I’ve replaced more Cruze and Silverado DEF pump assemblies than I care to remember.

I see diesel colorado zr2’s all the time. :dunno:
Me too, in the shop because the engine is so shoehorned into the truck you have to remove the cab and replace the engine harness because it gets pinched between the head and the firewall. We’ve done 3 different trucks, one of them twice.

Why even offer a diesel when a 3.5 ecoboost makes more hp and torque........

Because people don't want an ecodoosh in a 3+ ton brick. Sales show this. They buy them and keep them 10, 15, or more years. Not that I'm advocating this diesel is a high miler, but diesels are known for their longevity.
