I understand the hate, it is clunky and slow and sometimes freezes requiring restarting the car. The navigation map is the same one from 2005. They just only added android auto/carplay for the 2020 models when cheaper Nissan cars already have it. Additionally, the new Maxima now has more tech than the Q50. It is a little embarrassing for a Japanese manufacturer to be so behind on tech, especially on their premium products.

The user interface is poor, the graphics dates, and the resolution of the screens are shitty. Nissan also had Carplay/Android Auto before Infiniti. It should be the other eay around.

Everything in their lineup is old, CVT's are garbage, Q name switch was awful and uneeded.

Everybody had a G35 or G37 why switch to the Q50? Eau Rouge was amazing and they canned it. They just dropped all performance/fun anything. And plenty of people can buy reliable appliances (aka lexus) and have a more reliable car with better resale.

370z is like 11 years old with very minor updates.

Nissan just refused to go turbo or hybrid. Their small cars suck. The Murano and Rogue with the cvt are garbage to drive imo.

Also, didn't Infiniti skip out on the last Chicago auto show? They just have such a poor brand right now because they're not really known for anything. Lexus and Acura have established themselves as dependable, quality luxury brands. They both have flagship sports cars/coupes. Infiniti/Nissan does not have the dependable reputation anymore and with only the q60 as their coupe, it doesn't look like they can play w the heavy hitters in the 6 figure range either, which comes off as cheap. I feel like halo cars are very important for luxury brands. Unless you pull a Lincoln and only want to sell crossovers.

there is talk of Infiniti going all electric after 2021. So in a way it does make sense of not updating yet subsequently pissing everyone off to different brands. And might as well save cost skipping autoshows with aged ICE platforms that will be entirely replaced.

the VR30DDTT is their newest DI twin turbo plant, smaller 3.0L from the GT-R engine fam. The Q50/60 already have it. I can see that slowly replacing the VQ, but knowing Nissan they'll ruin it with a CVT.

Isn't it ~250 horsepower out of a turbo 4cyl and barely getting better mpg's than its competitors? Sounds awesome!

For a first stab into variable compression, I'd say not bad, considering they are best in class mileage and power is on par or better than anything else in the class (the next best in class mileage for a turbo is the Passat which is down 20+ HP to the Nissan). Advances in ICE engines aren't going to be 50% gains, they are already very efficient.

My neighbor who purchased a used Q50S a couple months ago mentioned something that I was quite surprised at.
it is a 2015 with the tech package etc ( pretty loaded ) but doesnt have remote start.

Lmao, that's hilarious. Maybe because german vehicles don't have remote start, infiniti thought it was OK to exclude it? Clearly they didn't realize that, unlike the germans, they were making garbage and needed every single advantage they could possible get
