Went and walked through a spec house my friend is building, his first one. 2800ft 1.5 story with a 1900ft main..makes me stoooopid anxious to build ours.

He actually had to narrow the floor plan by 4' because of the lot width. It's now a 65' wide house

Agree. I almost cheaped out on the lot and am stupid glad I didn't, especially after picking the floor plan we'll use to build from

And the other neighbor's driveway is right up against the other side. Kind of unavoidable when you put a house with a footprint that big on a lot that size though. If he did a 2800 ft 2 story it would have been fine...but a 1900ft main makes for a pretty big footprint

i had my first home depot locker pickup yesterday.

waaaaaaaay better than standing at the customer service desk dick in hand while some retiree tries to:

1st, finish up their phone call about whatever the fuck they are talking about.
2nd, find my order in their computer system even though i printed out a barcode they can scan
3rd, locate my order and all parts of it, in a timely fashion....

They do it a lot around Chicago too, we call them McMansions. Especially in areas around like Norridge, Park Ridge, etc.
