Not surprising at all. I feel like the looks haven't changed much in 10 years.

I don't. Would be unfortunate but not surprising. They waited too long to make the car affordable.

And by making it affordable did they make it not profitable?

Everyone loves to say the Camaro is the best out of the 3 pony cars. But maybe that doesn't translate to sales or profit that is acceptable. It sucks if it happens as it is one less competitor in that class.

Is that a reputable source?

Talk about not learning from history. Seems to me like if the camaro goes away, it'll be for the same exact reasons it disappeared almost 20 years ago. Man GM sucks... they can't make their crappy cars worth buying, and they can't market their good cars for shit.

I will have a 17-19 ZL1 one day and i'll keep it forever, i still love the 4th gens and regret not buying one 10-15 years ago

Quite possibly, which is why it's unfortunate they waited too long because affordability wasn't built into it from the start. It was the only of the three that didn't require any special packages or handling options to drive like a bat out of hell from the start, also potentially adding to its high initial cost along with all the feature advantage it had over a base Mustang or Challenger. It wasn't an unjustified extra cost because when you added those packages and options to the Challenger and Mustang they spec'd out pretty evenly, just a bummer you couldn't get an affordable V-8 from the start. Half of all Mustang GT's in our national inventory are base models, not Premium package cars. And the Mustang is the only non-SUV that Ford is keeping around

Good riddance! Fuckers charged too much for too long and alot of people bailed to the Mustang.

Remember the 75k 5th gen Z28 :hahano: :gtfoslap:

I did so myself too in 2016 I couldnt find a base V8 8 speed Auto Camaro for under 45k.

Went to Ford got a Premium package 5.0 A6 car for 36,800 OTD.

I would have had a 6th gen but at over 8k difference for a comparable V8 Auto car ummm NOPE!
:wavey:

Dont care.

And then bring it back after another ~8 year hiatus...

But yea, it's not so much learning a lesson. If the sales aren't there, why keep something running... GM is in the business to move sheetmetal and make money, not cater to the whims of a few performance freaks, albeit it's nice when they do or when they have a niche car.

You mean the one that trounced every competitor in its price class? Yeah, I remember that one.

Z28 was a badass car but sure in the fuck not for 75K

Remember this is the same car GM slashed 25K off of MSRP at the end of the production run because they were sitting on the lots.

The Z28 was a parts bin whore of a car not a 75K car with Z28 badges.

Suspension and tires were in another league thats a big factor too. IIRC it has massive PZero Corsas on it from factory?

This is an interesting fact

Dodge is still selling the fuck out of a 10+ year old chassis...if the sales aren't there for the camaro it's because of poor marketing and configurations (which can be addressed by GM), not lack of demand for affordable sports cars

They made bad choices, again, and now a good car will have to pay the price. Sucks

It seems most people I know or talk to don't own a Premium car. Some with the track package are still base cars. I think base cars with the Recaro seat option seems popular.

I think they sell a good clip of the ecoboost as well. A base Ecoboost is like $26,500. That is a pretty cheap price to get into a sports car.

I can't see Ford letting the Mustang go. It has been in production all along and is an iconic model for them. Plus I think it is harder to stop something and bring it back. Your customer base that in the past was model loyal isn't there anymore. I think when the Camaro was gone it opened up the door for Dodge. They came out with the Challenger & Charger in 2006 & 2008. That gave them a jump on stealing customers and making them DOdge customers up to 4 years before the Camaro came back. Had the Camaro been around in 2003, I think the Charger & Challenger might not have sold as well as they have been.

Imagine GM trying to bring the Camaro back again in the future with their sub-par advertising. If Dodge advertising is still on its game the Camaro will probably do poorly again.
