Ford just announced the active is shitcanned for America partly because of Trumps tarrifs.

https://jalopnik.com/the-2019-ford-focus-is-dead-for-u-s-thanks-to-trumps-t-1828745055/amp

Back in April, Ford*announced*that it was phasing out all small cars except the Ford Mustang and the Ford Focus Active in North America. Except now it looks like the Mustang may be on its own, as The Blue Oval brand will not bring the Focus Active stateside due to new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.

It’s time to say goodbye to the Ford Focus, which we thought was going to remain at least in lifted form. But alas, that’s no longer the case. Ford told Jalopnik over the phone why the China-built Focus Active would not come to the U.S.:

“We made a business decision to stop development of the Focus Active crossover because of the negative financial impact of the new tariffs on vehicles imported from China.”

Ford’s spokesperson would not say that the Mustang will be left as the sole non-SUV or truck in the lineup, instead he pointed out that the Fiesta is available through 2019 and that the Fusion will be around for “at least a few more years.”

It’s trumps fault, hahahahaha.

As a fleet buyer.... Ford is doing some super janky stuff, like the cutoff to order our new police vehicles for 2019 is September 19, 2018, no one even has their 2019 budget yet, and if you wait till 19’, all you can order is a 20’ model and it’s 8k higher than the 19’.

Guess I’ll be ordering Dodge Chargers.....

I think the administrative side of Ford is getting greedy ( more than normal I mean) 60+k for a F150??????

NFG.

I wouldn't be interested in a 2019 anything until 2026 anyhow and by then something else will have come along.

People ok with the tragic financial loss of buying a new anycar intrigue me. Why so dumb?

Not buying for me, but I do purchase 25-35 cars a year for law enforcement purposes, hard to justify when your price is 10k more than the next competitor. It almost seems like they are trying to go out of business.

What a lie this turned out to be. When they promised like 12 new performance models.

Real smart to get rid of one of your "youth" cars. If you don't hook the kids when they buy their first car, how are you going to sell them an F-150 or Lincoln as they get older? Way to get rid of market share, Ford.
That never stopped older people from buying more expensive cars like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes. And the used market will still have cheaper Fords for a number of years anyway.

Anyway, while I like my ST, I'll just get something else in the market like a GTI or WRX when the time comes.

Kids/millenials aren't buying cars, they are using rideshare and living in the city. There's a reason why small car sales is trash.

Are the Chargers a better option? From the LEO's I've talked to, they like the Exploder because of the space and utility, especially around town where you don't need something that "fast" but where a Tahoe isn't practical.

The guys that need the space EV techs and traffic crash reconstruction guys are going to get F150’s , for road use I think the charger with a v6 might be the ticket, 15k less per car, we’ll have to run all the numbers, but it could happen.

Some info about the Fiesta in the picture . No cars are sold in Liquid blue , except the new Fotd GT ( although I have not seen any pictures of a liquid blue GT being driven on the road )

The Fiesta in the picture was sold from a dealer new , and resold . At one time it was on CarGurus I believe it's in Indiana now . Ford did a quick spray of liquid blue no real prep work . Paint is peeling on the body . Probably from flexing .
