Watching The Grand Tour they said Ford took a survey and they said fuel economy was like 28th on the list of things people think about when buying a truck. Basically, they don't give a shit about it. Until they have to pay for the fuel I guess? lol

Bed floor & tail gate height is one I hate. They keep getting higher and higher. I feel along with the tailgate step they should come with a cherry picker & hand winch. I would be able to throw my quads in the back of my 2001 1500. No way could I get it is some of the newer truck.

Honestly, I knew what I was signing up for buying all of mine. They ride like shit, get poor mileage, cost a lot and my short ass self can't reach dick to repair them.

My BIGGEST gripe, is the degrading build quality, in my opinion. It's what inevitably pushed me to sell my F350 and why I'm having trouble buying new again.

yeah my 2wd truck was fucking awesome for moving most things... tailgate was just above knee height.

now my truck, it's like above waist height and it's brutal to put an oven or similar in

Outlaw my buddies 2018 F350 crew cab had some major issues with body gaps. Specifically the doors. You could see daylight from inside the truck in places. You could pull a dollar bill through the seal in place as well. Three trips back to the dealer to get them to where they were not bad. We were surprised how bad they were. Maybe Ford will get that taken care of as that was an early production truck. But seems Ford has that issue in most of their vehicles.

exactly. And some people might call you tall. So for people of shorter stature it would be chest height haha

My 2013 F350 (which saw two winters) had rust in the door pinch welds (halfway up door, not on bottom). Rust bubbling through exterior bottom of door about 1/2" up, rust in the rockers and cab corner bubbling. Floors/underside were getting crusty.

That's not even bringing up the heated steering wheel going bad, SYNC being fucked up more often than working, 2nd wastegate actuator, 3rd oil pan...

My 1999 F250 had none of these issues, and thicker metal IMO.

I've been pretty privileged with both of my Raptors. Had a rust issue on the driver door interior that Ford fixed on their dime. Radiator cracked from my oopsies that Ford also fixed on their dime.

This current Raptor, I think the dude went whole hog and had undercoating on everything done as well as in all the doorjambs and pinch welds. No rust anywhere with 63k on it (I sure fucking hope not).

Other than Sync acting up sometimes (which might be replaced with Sync 3 and CarPlay from a 16+ truck), I've no issues with either Fords.

The Duramax was also a champ. I miss that truck also.

On my 14' Ram2500 I will say bed height. Now im short and jumping into the bed to grab something is a PITA. I have a gasser and so any of that diesel crap doesnt apply to me. I enjoy washing and waxing my truck, I actually love the ride, which is why I would never own a 1/2ton truck. MPG's dont bother me but it she was getting mid 20's I would be happier with that I guess. As far as service well with 97k on her I do all the service now but was never an issue but again not a diesel. I will be in the market for a new truck this summer/fall and its a toss up between a F250 or a Ram 2500 again. Probably another gasser as I dont want to deal with diesel.

Side note.... with all the shit talking on Ram's rusting out, I have ZERO spots of rust anywhere on my truck (besides my exhaust hardware) Maybe due to lots of waxing, and generally above average maintenance on the truck I give it.

Maybe the Aluminum body was an issue???

Washing and detailing the outside is an absolute beast of a project. Definitely a down side IMO. The biggest gripe I have is how shitty the truck rides on segmented paved highways. At that 70mph mark, it bounces and shakes the crap out of the truck. I have about 300lbs of sand in bags by the tailgate to mitigate the effects, but if there is no weight then it is a painful ride.

I'll take a stab at this

1. Fuel Economy

We are in a time when trucks are their biggest, most powerful and most efficient. A half ton can tow 10k safetly all weekend and can do about 20mpgs mon-fri commute. That's awesome. HD trucks obviously do worse mileage wise but can tow crazy numbers.

2. Ever increasing bed heights

More volume of bed space??? Yeah I'm in.

3. Rough Ride (Mostly applies to 3/4ton+)

....it's a truck imho Make GM SFA again

4. Accessories (We all buy 'em, & they're $$$)

Pay to play. Most people drive their shit 100k+ your tonneau cover and truck nuts are lasting longer now. My "cheap" vinyl roll up really hasn't faded in 3 years of use

5. DEF in its entirety

IDK doozul things pass

6. EPA After Exhaust Systems & Related

Let em, we shouldn't intentionally hurt the environment

7. Service (Wait times for repairs)

If my truck made me money I'm sure I'd agree with this

8. Washing It.

Doesn't bother me

9. Reaching the center (change wipers for example)

I close the garage door so the neighbors don't laugh that I need a step stool

10. Cost (Especially Diesel Premium)

Again these trucks have a stupid amount of features now. The numbers are crazy on paper but what you're getting really is almost justified
