This is pretty disappointing given the changes that Ford made to the car for 18. Only .3 faster than the 2015 GT PP even with more horsepower, suspension changes, and stickier Pilot 4S tires is weak. Maybe the 2018 PP 2 will put up a better fight, but Ford already had a benchmark to hit and swung and missed here in the handling/braking department,

Doesnt matter who's friend ran 11s in what with whatever mods. The Camaro is a better value out of the box. All they can do now is come out with a high hp cobra version of the car and just say it's not a track car and wait for the next generation to try again at out handling a camaro.

They are both nice cars but seems like Camaro owners either buy these cars for looks or they are bunch of pussies that are scared to race them .In last 2 years I've been to 1/4 mile tracks with my car like 15 times , 3 times to 1/2 mile events and twice to roadcourse . I don't know why but during these events ratio of 11+ Coyote Mustangs vs 10+ Camaro was usually like 10:2 . Last fall at Us41 there was over 10 Coyote Mustangs vs 1 fifth gen and 1 sixth gen Camaros . I see more Vettes at the tracks then Camaros

Huh? The 7 speed is a manual going in the Camaro. The ten speed will be in the GT500 I am sure

"Furthermore, there’s the car’s centerpiece, aka the engine. Leaked documents revealed the 2019 Shelby GT500 will rely on a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 dubbed “Predator”. More precise, we’re looking at a cross-plane V8 fitted with an Eaton 2.65-liter TVS (Twin Vortices Series) @ 12 psi supercharger, according to Mustang6g. Compression ratio is said to be a 10:1. CAD images and a picture of the engine are available here and here.

According to the same source, the engine would be mated to a Tremec TR-9007 seven-speed dual-clutch transmission tasked with channeling the 700+ hp Ford has been advertising for the 2019 Shelby GT500 exclusively to the rear wheels."

That is probably because the 5th gen camaro wasn't really a performance car. It was a boat on wheels.

For road racing yes, but for drag racing it looks like the 18 GT has a slight advantage.

always has been I meant like support from Roush, and FRPP and Steeda ect ect. those are companies you can order a car with parts installed straight from the dealer.

geezus fuck you people dont read and look for any tiny opening to try argue.......

Does GM have anyone like Roush, or Steeda, or FRPP stage kits being offered?

SLP is dead so dont even mention them guess who bought them out....... Roush did LOL.

So hmmm please highlight where i said a damn thing about the older 4.6 or LS that were never discussed in this thread to begin with since neither car use those engines.......

Im here to like all of KJs comments and make a couple of my own.

Ford is always behind the Camaro in handling. Be thrilled the GT350 works as well as it does. It was like lightning. It won't happen again. lmao

I remember jason05gt talking huge game back in the day how S197 this and S197 that for handling and it blows GM out of the water stock for stock. Was he talking out of his ass, or am I missing something? I cant be on a site with multiple ford humpers saying one thing then years later when their flavor isnt good turn around and be like "well it was always not as good".

The Mustang GT has almost always been outperformed by its Camaro counterpart.

The Mustangs have always just looked better and had better interiors (subjective, I know), but I'd bet more people agree with this than don't. Everyone modifies both of these cars anyways, so it all goes out the window for the majority of "car guys."

Someone doesnt remember the third gen and Fox body days. Even as a kid I thought the only cool car was a notch GT.

2v's are the 3800's of the ford world aren't they.

3800s made more power and went faster. :io: Im surprised though, with all that aftermarket for Ford. :amsoil:

The GT PP2 is a more appropriate competitor to the 1LE, and they start at near identical prices; I think the Mustang is a little less expensive. That's the track comparison I want to see.

This. Was actually surprised when I looked in the article at saw a PP1 car. Why not test a mag shock SS against a PP1 Mustang? And then test the 1LE SS against the PP2 Mustang...

We need a modern Yenko Camaro

I know the person that owns the rights to the Yenko name. They were in talks with GM about dealer ordered Yenko cars. They ended up going in a different direction. But they have a company that builds cars with Licensing from his company. You could order a 800hp 2017 "Yenko" camaro.

As much as I am labeled a Ford nutswinger, I give props to many other cars. Including the Camaro. I am sure if you search you can find that many times from my posts. Going back to the Foxbody days when the Camaro out handled it and had way better brakes. The Mustang was lacking for decades compared to the Camaro. In suspension, power, torque, brakes, and other areas. But the Mustang also has a lot of things going for them and that is why people buy them.

There is no way I would have bought a 6th Gen camaro based on interior and interior looks alone. But I will admit the Z28 was a pretty bad ass car. No pony car had a parts list like that before.

The newest Camaro looks way better on the outside but I am not a huge fan of the interior. If I had not bought my 2015 GT and still owned my 2011 GT, I may have already been at a GM dealer checking out a 2SS. I have said it before and I will say it again, the 2017 SS is a great buy for the money. The 1LE steps up the game even more. The Corvette is another world-class competitor that is resonably priced when compared to it's competition.

The Camaro team is doing a great job with it. The Ford team is making great improvements as well. Just seems like they are always chasing a car that is a couple model years behind. Unless it is the GT350 team. Those guys were chasing a Porsche GT3. What?! Who would have thought. lol
