Also, sear your meat before you put it in the crock pot. Caramelizing the meat on the stove adds flavor.

If you are making gravy from the juice, you can stick the pan you used for searing in the fridge covered with cling wrap after it cools and use it later to make the gravy. If your heat was high enough, there should be some good meat bits in the pan. I love my cast iron pans for this.

You throw it all in a plastic bag then the crock pot?

Let's talk food now. What's the best thing you guys make in there?
I will toss in a big piece of meat like eye of the round
1 jar of mild giardiniera. Come home 8 hours later and I have beef sandwiches.

Maybe 1 or 1/2 cup of water too depending on the side of the meat

I make some killer pork chops in there too

Lets hear this pork chop crock pot? You have my attention

I use the crock pot year round and probably 2-3 times a week in the colder seasons and 1-2 during the warmer.

It's hard to single out just one crock pot dinner but right now it's chicken/tortellini soup. I think it's one of those yum recipes off Facebook? (Not sure since I don't use FB and my wife found it there)

Like gamble we make beef sandwiches (almost identical to Gamble's recipe), beef stew, stroganoff, I will have to dig out the recipient book for the others.

When the wife does it she adds chicken broth or stock to the beef

For pork chops let me see if I remember it

Pork chops (I use the bone in)
Can of cream of chicken soup (or mushroom if you like that)
Seasoning
Package of brown gravy (powder)
Chicken broth or stock

Low for 8 hours. Everything falls right off the bone so pick it all out
Make some white rice to serve with it

The bags are liners they go in the crockpot then you put everything in there as normal.. Cook your food etc... take it all out... toss bag in garbage = no crockpot cleanup..

I always mean to do this and never do. End up having to use lots of elbow grease.

Every fucking time. Bought the bags like a year ago and have only used them once.

Its funny this thread came up, we haven't been crockpotting a lot this year and just this weekend i saw it in the cabinet and made a mental note to plan a crockpot meal soon.

I'm going to do some Giardiniera and Italian seasoning beef sandwiches soon. I'm hoping to replicate the Chicago flavor.

Doing this tomorrow, wife and I were planning dinners for the week and because of this thread I wanted Ital Beef.

I never use the bags, the crock pot rarely is a pain to clean up. I can see using the bag for chili or something as that is always a mess to get clean.
