I have a slight problem with my Dodge Charger rental car

I keep leaving the fucker on. I went to visit my little brother at Marianos and he walked me out to the car and then we realized it was locked and running. I had been in the store for 30 minutes. And that wasn't the first time. It was probably the 6th or 7th time.

With the Tesla there is no switch. The key is in your pocket. When you approach the car the handles present and the car turns "on". You just put it in drive and go. When you stop you just put it in park and get out. It shuts off automatically when the door is closed and locks as you walk away.

My wife's car beeps at you if you walk away with the key in your pocket and it's running but this charger doesn't have any fucks to give. I keep parking it and walking away and it doesn't care.

Stay tuned for further updates.

That's the other problem. The door sills are so high I can't throw change at the poor kids on the side of the street holding their empty hats out to me.

You're not the first to do this, Mike.

Once you start the engine as you normally do it completes the circuit until you shut it down then the circuit disengages. My question is why would you leave you car running anywhere? That's just asking for trouble. I'm beginning to understand why my wife keeps saying common sense is dead.
2 out of 2 people think this is helpful.

First of all its nobodys business why another grown person does something. The question was very specific and if you cant answer the question without your holier than thou attitudes and comments, then get the f*** off the page! You act like you have never done anything questionable in your life before! Who the hell asked you what your ditzy ass wife says???? Most people insure their materials and leave it at that! Materials! Which are REPLACEABLE! Just worry about locking your own damn doors but in the mean time, answer the question Pope Francis!!!

I leave my car on once in a while? If its cold out and I want to run into jewell to grab some shit?

Its great for that because thieves can't take your car out of park (it senses no key), or if I just want to run into the house for a second because I forgot my what ever it stays running.

Mine doesn't :dunno: I was able to start my car, take my key into my house, and pull my car into my garage.

same with audi, sometimes i leave it running when I run into get food or whatever and it will complain the key is leaving, but it won't let you lock the car from the outside when its running and will gladly let you drive away

I would be fine with it if it at least let you lock it with the fob outside while the car is still running.

The Expo has a keypad too, so nice

Yeah, like, I don't want to own a car without one now... I used to just have a 2nd key made that worked in the door only and just leave it in the door pocket. Crack window 2" or so, hop out, grab key, lock door.

The keypad is FAR more foolproof though. I think I've locked myself out twice between my last four trucks... But that's why I crack the window, never had to call or anything just inconvenient.

It's really nice knowing that I can stow a key away, and never be locked out of anything ever. I can wander around without keys in my pocket...if I'm going fishing and trudging through brush and shit...and not worry about dropping a key and having to dig around trying to find it in 4 foot tall grass and brush.

Ahhhh the first world Tesla problems:

"My Tesla shuts off for me, regular cars don't. My Tesla "presents" itself to me when I approach, most cars require me to push their buttons to let me in. My car knows my personal feelings, other cars don't understand. My Tesla blows me in the morning before my drive, other cars leave me feeling unsatisfied and lonely."

Ford still uses that keypad on the door?

Keypad is the most amazing thing ever and it's seriously a joke no one else has one.

Going snowmobiling and don't want to lose your keys? Lock in truck.

Putting boat in the water and don't want to lose your keys? Lock in truck.

Run out to vehicle and forgot your keys? Use the keypad.

Best feature ever.

To be clear, I'm not intentionally leaving the car on. I'm just exiting it like I would exit the Tesla and it just continues to run forever. I just did it again at the hotel. I walked up to it to grab something after being here for two hours and there she is, idling like a champ, ready for her next adventure.
