ls1 destroys the 4.6 motor stock vs stock.

Now that would all depend....my girlfriend bone stock 2004 GT vs all the LS1 camaro's i have raced......i have beaten em!!!!

As much as i looooove GM's....It is so much Cheaper to mod a mustang over an LS1

 if that is true then the camaro drivers dont know how to drive. either that or you raced an LT1 camaro....which would make some sense. the Mustangs had wut 280hp??? the LS1 comes with 325-345. The LS1 would walk all over mustangs, hands down stock(has been provn many times).

Camaro/TA: runs 13.2sec in the quarter. Mustang GT: 14.6???

Mustang Gt's have 260hp :) Slap on a Kenne Bell Supercharger (which he is gonna do) and that thing will be sick. I am with him with the "Camaros just fell LONG when u drive it" He is pretty much decided on the Stang anyways.

not to mention he is a Manual whore... he loves it..

Its understandable.

But he is asking opinion. We are telling him the Camaro is a better choice, yet is gonna buy the Mustang. Why even ask if he had his heart set on the stang?

Not trying to be an ass, but seems kinda silly to some to ask for an opinion and go the opposite route people tell you to go.

A cenrifugal blower is arguably the best blower since its less parasetic loss, and acts more like a turbo. The higher the revs, the more boost. Kenne Bell blowers are like roots blowers.

Ohh, and the C6 Z06 isnt S/Ced. :D

2004 mustang is 275 horse...and lighter than an LS1,,,,Second, if you can't tell the idfference between an ls1 and lt1.....you shouldn't be racing, preiod. Stock Z28's are 305-310 hp......i've seen stock z's run hight 13's to low 14's...same with gt's.....but like with any race....the driver makes a world of difference. Technically, a stock z.....should beat a stock stang....but it's a driver's race.

LOL... ILGPC is telling him to go camaro and he goes mustang.... is that his fault?? that last decision is up to HIm.. and no1 else. HEh.

Also to add... the deal with the camara fell through and he can trade his POS BMW 325 for $1000 trade in at the dealership. He has been thinking about this for a long time.

He is sick and tired of fixing damn cars... (he knows obvioulsy when you mod, things break) But he wanted a decently low milage car that has aftermarket for it... its his choice

I was close..just cause i own a mustang doesn't mean i like them...needless to say, i have wacked several Z28's ...... could be the driver though.......i am starting to love the modular motors...but am still a GM guy...

I guess it's just all in preferance in what you thin you would be happier with in the long run.......good luck with whatever you get man!!! Can't wait to see what you do with whatever you get.

he is still a GM Fan... (but a BMW die hard fan) He really isnt particular to FORD!!!'s, but this is a hell of a deal, and he saw our friends 401whp GT, and thought it was pretty sweet... with a vortech.. He is goin Kenne Bell so that will be nice. And you cant match the Mustang Gt's exhaust note... not even with a LS1. His tranny actuall DIED 2 days ago, and he needs a new car ASAP for college and needs to get rid of the BMW

I will defintely have to agree on mustangs have the best exhaust note!!! We just put Flo Pro Mufflers on my girls 40th anni gt, and that thing sounded beautiful........it i svery hard to get an ls1 to sound nice, without being annoying.....mine sounded like a damn nascar.....sounded awsome...just obnoxious sometimes.

I'm not gonna call BS on this, but i guess I would just have to see that for myself.

Me personally have never lost to a Mustang GT even modded out. Not to mention my car isn't very modded.

Nothing against stangs but factory vs. factory the Ls1 always comes out on top. Look at any motor trend, car and driver, etc road test.

Mustangs are nice cars and I was a big mustang guy for a while until my cousin has a at the time BRAND NEW 98 Mustang GT, and my other cousin at the time had a BRAND NEW 98 Trans Am.........

We went out on test drives, a couple races, and that was enough to get me over to Pontiac...........

I would have bought a SS too, but I liked the Ws6 a lil more.

Read what i put before you call BS....I said Z28's........An SS or WS6.....ha, i woudln't even think of racing one in her car.....I used to own a Sunset Orange 2001 WS6......that had an LS6 though, so it was a bit faster than your average stock WS6.

See, thing is that the magazines test cars as a weekend toy. Their cars won't see higher mileage and aren't usually tested for "daily drive-ability". This is going to be my only car, and it needs to be quite reliable too. The trunk inside the f-body's is barely big enough for a suitcase, let alone the tool boxes I cary to and from school.

an SS/WS6/Firehawk is only a tenth *maybe* 2 on a really good day... faster than a Z28/Formula/Base Trans Am ... Same drivetrain... , better breathing factory... However, a TA, WS6, Firehawk, and SS all weigh more than a base Z28 or base Formula ... so in some instances it negates the performance all together ... since all M6 cars came w/a 3.42 gear only difference between SS/WS6/Firehawk and Z28/TA/Formula is the autos were 3.23 vs. 2.73 ...however you could request the Performance rear axle that gave any of the cars 3.23 gears ...

your 2001 WS6 had an LS6 block (unless you physically put an LS6 motor in it, which for the minimal increase in output vs the labor to do so ... i'd hope the engine was free...) not the entire engine, and unless you checked it very well could be an LS1 block... the only thing guaranteed LS6 on it would have been the Intake Manifold... the LS6 Block does nothing for performance ... it provides better breathing which helps reduce oil consumption issues w/the crappy PCV system ... and may be slightly stronger... but it's not going to add any performance...

That's what i thought too.....i raced another ws6....he had headers and full exhaust.....othe rthan that...same car as mine....i left that car so hard.....I had a 3.73 gear on the car, but coudn't imagine it would do that much to the car......

I dunno, anyways.......Yea man....sounds like the mustang would be a better buy for you.....like i said before...Good luck with whatever you get...hope it all works out for you.

I did read what you said. I didn't call BS. I said I would have to see that to believe it, and yes a Z28 is just as fast as a Camaro SS or Ws6 TA.....

The differences are minimal.

Some stock ls1's have hit 12.9x's 1/4 mile. This doesn't mean all of them do.

I have a friend who had an 02 Z28, STock minus Exhaust and ran a 13.2 on street tires.

I also had a friend with an 98 Ws6 Ran a 13.1 with exhaust and a k and n filter.

These cars are quick and nothing against 99+ GT's but they can't compare with the ls1 stock vs. stock. That is my only argument.

I'm not trying to knock anyones car. A normal Mustang GT driver will acknowledge the fact he knows the ls1 could probaly tear it up if the mustang isn't really modded.

To each his own, and I hope you purchase the car you like best. doesn't matter what i think or anyone else. Enjoy your car and bring it out to some meets!

modular motors are cheaper to mod than ls1s?
can you pass some of that crack over here?

you can get an ls1 into the 11s without touching the motor.
modular motors mod for mod cant hold a candle to the ls1, they do love nitrous however.

my mustang was the most reliable car ive owned after my geo :)
my ls1 on the other hand needed to be rebuilt at 42k. kind of sucks when theres a TSB on the rings of all things. and TSBs are NOT covered by the manufacturer.
