G8 squeaking when DOD/AFM is activated

I search the G8 forums and couldn't find anything on it.

When cruising, the G8 starts squealing until I give the car a little gas. Then it goes away. Anytime it starts squealing, just tapping the gas makes it go away. That is why I think it has to do with the AFM/DOD.

It seems like as soon as the AFM engages, the car starts squealing. I know the G8's are pretty well known to have lifter issues.

I'm going to create a thread over on G8board.com to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Oh, and sometimes when the car does a hard shift, it squeaks only for the duration of the shift.

Go into engineering mode and it will tell you when AFM is on, see if it coincides with the noise.

Thanks! Confirmed with engineering mode, the squeaks only happen when AFM is on. I put it in manual mode (which locks out AFM) and there was no squeak. But in normal mode, it squeaks like crazy when the AFM is engaged.

My alternator took a dump on me over the weekend. I had it replaced and now the squeak is gone.
As far as i know, the belt wasn't changed.
Would that mean the alternator was the source of the squeak or that the mechanic adjusted the tensioner and that fixed the squeak?
