so the bearings ar a weak point.... ok. so the consensus is that the pistons should be able to take over 400 hp. So would you all feel somfortable with this combination. Stock crank, new bearings from intense, L32 rods, stock pistons vs. 15 psi of intercooled boost and 150 wet shot?? Think the bottom end would stand up to that??

I would try to get some oiling work done on the block for better lubrication. That is the only real reason that the bearings would be going, as far as I remember. Really as long as your not detonating you shouldnt have problems with 400 hp.

Some people dont have an extra $900 bucks sitting around. It will probably double the cost of his engine by just buying those pistons. Understandable to be better safe than sorry, but it starts getting pricey.

While coated pistons are nice and have some better lubrication properties. They are expensive. I went with some Wiesco fordged pistons. Non-coated..They have a thick heavy duty top like there Diamond counter parts and cost about $400 and something.

The quality is high. They have a good piston to bore clearence. The kit comes with pins and ring kits. Just get a professonal hone and have you machine shop match/hone the pins to your rods and pistons.

im not going with the forged coated pistons unless i have to. Im hoping to be able to have an L67 built to handle 300-325 whp on a daily basis, with either a single stage 100 dry shot, or duel stage 75 dry of the line, 75 wet higher up (past 3500) when im worried about the outcome of the race, or when running for times. I dont have a bundle to spend on the internals, though i know i should put the money there as opposed to else where. Basically my plans are this:

1st gen RX7, semi-built L67, built T5-WC tranny, either a single T60-1 or twin T04B-14b turbos, 1.7:1 rockers, 3:73 LSD mustang cobra IRS, and the above mentioned nitrous. Should hopefully be running low 12's/high 11's on the motor, mid 10's on the juice. The problem comes in on the rear. Its gonna be EXPENSIVE. it will handle nearly anything i throw at it, but it will cost an arm and a leg to get it and mount it. I might resort to a built 8.8 IRS out of an expedition/explorer, but the half shafts would make it almost as expensive as the cobra rear.

So those are the plans as they stand. Knowing me it will change by next week, but im researching all of my plans throughly, so change is destined to happen. Hell, in the past month i have gone from a 2nd gen with an SBC to a first gen with a blown and built ecotec, to the above setup. Just hoping to firm up my plans a little with some idea of the cost and reliabilty inherent with each choice.
