-Don't chew gum.
-Tidy up your appearance: ie - haircut, nails, smell nice, etc.
-Shake their hands firmly with a full hand - not the girlish half hand handshakes.
-Have eye contact when answering their questions.
-Speak confidently and intelligently. Try to to say 'ummmm', 'ahhhhh', 'Ya knaw DAAWGGG' (no offense if this is standard vocabulary to you ;) )
-Print nicely on the job app.
-It doesn't hurt to end your sentences with 'sir' or 'maam' - but that might be just the Army in me :) .

Ryan, I interview people almost every week. The key is confidence and honesty. Before you go just think of a few strengths of yours that you think would help you better present yourself to the recruiter. Also think of a few weaknesses, people who give BS answers like "I don't have any weaknesses" or "I really can't think of one right now" usually have something to hide. This is where the honesty comes in. In your case it might be good to say one of your weaknesses would be that you have never worked in a Target before, or have never used their type of register before. Stuff like that. Don't say that one of your weaknesses is showing up to work on time :) Some other questions that might come up are things like: what are some of your major accomplishments in life? or Give me a time where you had to think on your feet in order to avert a bad situation. I would say just go into the interview and relax and you should do fine.

I agree with Big Jeff......be yourself and don't act nervous!!!!!

Also some other questions they may ask are:

Why do you want to work at target? What made you choose target as a place of employment? What can you bring to the company? Why do you feel you would be a good canidate for this particular job?

And like JET said, dont say "ummmm, i don't know, ya know, uuhh..." you need to be ready to respond to anything they will throw at you. One place asked me where I wanted to be when i was thirty...sometimes they ask really weird questions, but they do it so they can get a look at how you set goals for yourself and if you are the type of person they want to hire.

As to what to wear...i'd say wear a nice pair of pants and nice shirt...like khakis and a polo shirt or something....no jeans and t-shirts with scuffy gym shoes

Good luck and I hope it goes well. :)

So far everyone hit it on the head.

Just interviewed for a promotion today, so I kinda had to go though it all again. Although I could be more open minded this time around.

Looking eye to eye is a must. Means that your trying to be level with them.

Goals are good. I had goals, but I hate repeating them to everyone and their mother.

Dont get frustrated. Politely answer every question as best as you can without getting angry or showing fear.

Good luck.

Yeah, everyone pretty much covered the essentials. The main thing is to find a balance. Don't dress like a slob, but don't go in trying to look "rico, suave" (sorry, just saw an episode of "I Love the '80s"). Try not to sound like a dumbass, but don't try to sound like some Dean's list, honor roll intellectual, either. You don't want to come off as phony. Employers have seen that all a million times, and know better than to hire someone trying to present a false image. So just seek out an equilibrium, and play it cool.

....And for the love of all that is sacred, if you get asked this..
