What would you pay for this Fox?

I'll take pictures when I get home, spit balling the idea of picking this up if its cheap enough as a neighbor is looking to sell it.

Happened to run into the owners parents the other day (as they were looming over the car as it had recent damage) and started talking to them to find out it was their sons car, and he was looking to sell it. They were definitely north of their 50's, so I'd guess a late 20's/early 30's guy (that lives at home and is the pool boy for my apartment complex).

91-93 Black Hatch (Has airbag steering wheel)
No obvious external rust cancer
Chrome Ponies with newer looking tires
Visually rather 'tired'
Obviously needs:
-Hood
-Hood Latch
-Minor front of the roof lip repair
*Hood latch failure car, front glass either survived or was replaced*
-Headlights/Turnsignals
*Ones broken completely, the rest are yellowed beyond use*

Grey cloth interior looks to be in reasonably good shape, Exhaust looks stock, so I doubt it's had anything done to it.

What should I be looking for as things to walk away from?
Strut tower rust I know is a hidden cancer to steer clear of, and to check the rockers/kicker panels and under the front carpet, but external parts are a dime a dozen still.

I'd have to see pictures, but, I'd say less than $1,000 from your description.

No more than a grand. Maybe 1500 if it runs good.

That's about what I was thinking. I was told it runs well by the Parents, and Miss Esa and I have wanted something that we both really like as a project car to work on together (She was not enticed by my E36 5.0), and Foxes fall into that category.

Finding them in this kind of condition seems to be almost a bit of a rarity, or they just get snapped up quickly since its $300-500 away from being a $3000+ car on Craigslist or Chitown.

If it's a cleaner stock/original GT and they know what they have, they will be in the $5k - $7.5k range. They are so rare and people who drove them as teenagers are willing to pay more for an unmolested one.

Hrm. I have owned 4 different GT/LX/Notch in the past 3 years. And they were all very good shape (minimal to no rust). Some stock some not. But I know where paid those amounts. At least not for the closer to stock ones. 5-7k would be a minty one with very low mileage maybe. Oh hey maybe market has picked up a bit and I have not noticed.

For a wrecked car with a shit but rust free exterior?

It looks much worse than it really is, which is what I'm hoping the owner sees....

Basically its going to need a new front clip and hood minimally, which will be in the $400-800 range depending upon if I buy used or new, Plus another couple hundred for the roof repair and paint.

When I say 'Tired' I mean a couple small dings, but I don't think it had any clear coat peel, just wasn't super glossy anymore.

You have to post the first number he throws out when you go to talk to him.

I'm SUPER leery of him saying 3 grand when I ask tonight or tomorrow....

Its supposedly a solid runner, but it looks BEAT, but definitely worth repairing for someone like Myself if its sub $1500 I'd say.

I suspect the Chrome ponies and new(er) tires alone are probably worth like $500, I have a suspicion that will be a selling point for this car if he wants more than a Gnote for it. Living in an apartment does not bode well to him wanting to try and fix it up and sell it or anything like that. Fingers crossed :noes:

Owners had the car for 15 years, used to work for Ford.

Interior is dirty, but excellent shape, recent tires, OEM chrome ponies, runs solid, 100% stock.

Rust is starting up on the strut towers, but the floor pans look fairly clean and it was garaged most of his ownership.

Forgot to ask what year, but as mentioned, there are specs of surface rust here and there, sides are scratched up, but no major dents or panel damage outside of the front clip.

Before the front clip/hood was damaged he would have looked for $2800, he is asking $1500, I suspect I could get it for $1000-1200, should I jump on it?

Pictures speak to the exterior:

I think it's worth 1500 . Ask him how much oil it burns . Stock exhaust ? That engine bay looks about as stock as it gets . Put a 1500 into the body .

Look for rust on the doors . At the very bottom of the doors . Like right underneath where the door panels end .

What's the mileage .
